We try to make it to the Bay Area at least once a year and have always stayed next door . The CVI looked a little too expensive for our budget , but the other property as become a bit too grungy for us . I love the location , just off the freeway , still easy to get into SF . Close to BART and there is a nifty little mini golf a few miles down the road .
The rooms have been well taken care of and as other reviewers have mentioned , the manager is very friendly and helpful , plus he keeps a close eye on the building . The area is quiet , up the hill from the main Castro Valley center . I will make sure this will be our home away from home from now on .

We keep going back to this inn because of its safe location in the SF Bay Area and its reasonable rate. We were there last Spring and will be back in a few weeks. As everybody has said, Les is very friendly and has an amazing memory. I went jogging one early morning and it is doable, the neighborhood is mixed on Grove Way which becomes Crow Canyon.

Clean, cheap, and conveniently located. A brand new Safeway grocery store is right across the street. It was a nice room, with a queen bed, a desk, and a small table, and a long vanity and bathroom counter. It had a refrigerator, microwave, and in room coffee pot. The bathtub had a grab bar and a rubber bathmat. However, the faucet was the kind where you turn the handle to get from cold to hot. I never remember if it is the pointy part that indicates the water temperature or the long handle. If you are not used to it, you could get burnt. Did not offer the option to hang towels up and not have them washed. Also the “continental breakfast” is packaged pastries and regular coffee. He does provide instant decaf if you ask. Safeway sells breakfast sandwiches. It has wireless internet, but you have to ask for the network name and password. He has the network name hidden.

This is the first time staying at the Castro Valley Inn, and we loved it. Clean, comfortable and the inn keeper named Les was very friendly. We were there for 2 nights and also some friends that were from out of town booked a room on the 2nd night and again Les was very hospitable and we will stay again when in Castro Valley.

Castro Valley Inn is in a great location and conveniently located. It's very close to a Super Market and other stores. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, plenty of towels, hot water, etc. What made the stay extra special was the level of service we personally received from the Manager, Les. He went way beyond his call of duty. We were particularly surprised to see that people still go out of their way to help customers. Because of our experience with Les, I would highly recommend the Castro Valley Inn and definitely will be returning in the near future. Our overall experience was VERY GOOD and the price was very reasonable.

The Castro Valley Inn is a clean and friendly establishment well-located for Castro Valley. The rooms are basic motel rooms in size and style, but include amenities such as fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. What really makes this place shine is the service. The manager went out of his way to be helpful and accommodating of special requests. Highly recommended.

Not only was the Castro Valley Inn clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed, but Les, the guy at the desk went out of his way to make sure the room was fragrance free because of my allergies. He was polite, friendly, amusing, and even showed me (I'm a techno-idiot) how to use the wi-fi.
