Cayucos Sunset Inn is one of our very favorite places to go. The decor is inviting, yet elegant. The rooms are just wonderful, neat and clean. The bedding is pure luxury. Lisa and her staff are so warm and gracious. They serve breakfast and wine and cheese in the late afternoon. The breakfast is 5 star restaurant quality. On top of that, cookies with milk are delivered to your room in the evening! All in all it's a wonderful experience. You will be pampered beyond your dreams. My fiance have been twice and we plan on making it an annual event.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Champagne room and loved it.

When we arrived at Cayucos Sunset Inn, we were greeted by the Inn owners' cheerful daughter. What a lucky couple we were! She told us we had been upgraded to the Bali Suite, invited us to join them for wine and cheese in the evening, let us choose from the breakfast menu, and asked if we wanted cookies and milk delivered to our room after dinner. The Bali Suite was impressive: large, lovely, and immaculate. The spacious front room included a couch and TV. Just past that, we saw a toilet room with a shower. On the other side of the hall was a separate room with double sinks and a two person jacuzzi. Further down the hall was the large bedroom boasting another TV, sink, refrigerator, and coffee maker, and past that was a darling balcony. Wow! My husband teaches in an interior design program and is not a fan of the usual garish grandma look we've seen in other bed and breakfasts. I, on the other hand, do not favor cold, austere interiors. The decor at Cayucos Sunset Inn is perfect: tasteful, warm, elegant. When we went down for wine and cheese, Lisa, one of the owners, was excited to share information about the area and generously poured from several bottles of local wine. I could see how she became a bed and breakfast hostess. She was easygoing and took a real interest in her guests. Before we knew it the other couple who was there, Lisa, and we were chatting like old friends. She asked her daughter to call the restaurant to see if we needed reservations (we didn't). After dinner, we found beautifully wrapped cookies and glasses of cold milk chilling on ice at our doorstep. The breakfast the next morning was outrageous! We chose blueberry stuffed french toast, bacon, and fresh fruit. Delicious! We only stayed one night on our way back to the Bay Area from Southern California. We toured Hearst Castle (which is only a hop, skip, and a jump away). We would like to return to take another tour of Hearst's mansion, and when we do, we will surely return to Cayucos Sunset Inn. I heartily recommend this Bed and Breakfast.

We've stayed here before, and once stayed at a property right on the water when Cayucos Sunset Inn was booked. This place is still the best in town, even though it's not on the water. The owners are the nicest people you could ever hope to meet, they are certainly in the right business. I tend to notice if a place is being maintained properly, ie. in good repair, and Cayucos Sunset Inn definitely keeps the place clean and everything works the way it should. Breakfast is a real treat, not a lousy continental breakfast, but a REAL breakfast with quiche, potatoes, bacon or sausage, etc. If you are lucky, Lisa will have time to sit down with you and talk. Treat yourself to the best accomodations in this cute sleepy little beach town!

Room Tip: I think all the guest rooms are upstairs. The owners live downstairs. The construction is solid, so you won't hear your neighbors brushing their teeth! ;-)

This was the first time my wife and i had seen the pacific ocean.it left a lasting impression.More wildlife than we expected,The country roads reminded me of devon. The other thing that left a good feeling was the sunset inn,as soon as we opened the door to the room you could see the quality ,from the size to the fittings.A very comfortable room.Although 5000 + miles,we will return someday.
