My husband and I got married on Sunday, April 27th. After almost 4 days later and after all of the company had gone, we decided to get away for what we called our "minimoon". We only had a few days and wanted to enjoy them somewhere special. We decided to drive up to a little town called Cayucos that looked interesting and was right on the beach. So, my husband looked up places to stay and thought that the Cayucos Sunset Inn looked interesting. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Bonnie, who was warm and generally happy that we had arrived. We were then escorted to our room via the stairs and when we got to our door, were less than thrilled when our entry was overlooking the parking lot. Much to our surprise though, we entered our room and it was huge! It had a beautiful sitting room with a fireplace and television and then down a nice, long hallway was a beautiful Jacuzzi bathtub in the bathroom and a large and beautiful bedroom. That bedroom I might add, had a wonderful porch that overlooked the town of Cayucos and the ocean. Our breakfast the next morning was fabulous and Priscilla was the most wonderful server with the sweetest personality and the gal who also served named Erica was not only personable, but turned out to be very helpful throughout our stay. As a nice surprise also, when we arrived home in the evening after a full day of gallivanting about the area, we came home to milk and homemade cookies at our door. A nice way to finish off an amazing day, All in all, the food was fabulous, the room exceeding our expectations and the staff truly the best we've experienced in a very long time. I would recommend this wonderful place to anyone as a memorable and beautiful experience not to be forgotten!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Bali room and it was beautiful!

At first blush you drive into this quaint town with its low key atmosphere and expect a good old relaxing time. The impression is borne out and a weekend getaway to Cayucous will leave your relaxed and refreshed.

Our stay at the Cayucous Sunset Inn was both delightful and frustrating. It is nestled close to the main downtown area, a short 5 minute walk, and is facing the street rasied just enough to get some ocean views. There is a moderate neighborhood across the street that will block the view of the lower level but not for the upper level. While the view of a street before the ocean is not ideal, it isnt bad either.

Walking into this bed and breakfast is kind of like walking into a friends home. You are greated and welcomed by a very nice and helpful staff. The room check in was more of a welcome to our home and let me give you the tour rather than some kind of formal experience. We stayed in the Sunset Honeymoon suite and it was nice from top to bottom. By beach standards it was more of an apartment than a hotel room. Lovely decor, spacious living quarters, dreamy bed with a patio with a view. The bath area with a huge 2 person jet tub was seperated from the toilet room that also contained a rain fall shower. Everything was in light tones with a quiet elegance. The patio made for some wonderful outdoor meals. The only downsides that we had about the room were the paperthin walls that allowed us to experience the constant stream of traffic and the amorous attentions of some of the other guests. The other was the lack of black out options for the rooms which got light early. I do reccomened that you bring both a sleep mask and ear plugs if you are bothered by such things. We did and it was fine.

Now the downside to our experience came with the staff management of our "couples spa package." This was my 10th aniversary and I really wanted to do something special. Part of our overall experience was ordereding the spa package as advertised on their website. We made the reservations over a week before we arrived. Nothing was said to us about the unavailability of the package. When we arrived, no one told us that there was an issue. The morning of the couples massage we checked in with the front and they informed us that they would send the Therapists straight up. After sitting around all morning, we finally got a phone call informing us that there were no therapists. What?!?! We ordered this over a WEEK ago and you tell us now?!? Did they do nothing to fulfill one of the major aspects of this trip for us in advance? They informed us that it shold have been explained on check in. Well, that would have been too late too but at least we would not have burned our entire morning waiting. Obviously they would compensate us in some way for this incredible incovenience and let down.....NOPE. Nothing. No discount, no attempt to make it up to us. Nothing. I could not have been more dissapointed in this soiling of our idyllic experience.

Some people can't get over this kind of lapse in treatment but we made the best of the day and spent it at the beach, shopping, eating, and generally goofing around. While it was a black mark on the trip, it didnt cause a collapse for us. Perhaps the scrumptious meal at Hoppe's made up for it? That and the nightly wine + cheese tastings, delcious breakfast, and cookies and milk did a lot to assuage our misgivings. I am not one prone to dismiss an entire location because of an intesely bad experience. Especially in light of the all the good that was there. Just let it be a cautionary tale if you are trying to go beyond just the housing part of the place. The spa down the street will do an hour for $50 in you find yourself in a pinch. We didnt because that wasnt the experience that we were looking for but maybe it is for you.

Anyway, it is a a great place, in a great location, with great access. You are sure to enjoy your stay.

Room Tip: Top floor for the view is essential

We recently stayed at the Sunset Inn in Cayucos, Calif. This B&B is small enough to provide very individualized attention to each guest but with plenty of privacy also. The rooms are impeccably clean. We stayed in the Sunset Room which had a very comfortable large bed, huge bathroom with oversized Jacuzzi for 2 and beautiful patio. The setting was very quiet. The meals provided are excellent and varied. The staff we dealt with Sandi, Bonnie and Priscilla catered to anything we needed anytime. Would highly recommend

Room Tip: Sunset suite is large, bright and airy

This was our third stay at Cayucos Sunset Inn, and won't be our last. Have stayed in three different rooms and they were all wonderful. I love the location - even though it's on Ocean Avenue it's quiet and close to the beach and restaurants. Having the easy parking is a big plus. The staff is warm, friendly and helpful. Love the afternoon wine and cheese and tasty homemade breakfasts. We won't stay anywhere else.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms have views, but downstairs is quiet and comfortable as well.

We had a short pitstop that turned into a two-day stay because of the nice city and especially this wonderful hotel! We enjoyed the large terasse with seaview, and the cookies and milk brought by nighttime was a wonderful bonus feature!

My husband and I spent two nights this week at the Cayucos Sunset Inn and really enjoyed our stay! The Inn is lovely. We stayed in the Champagne Room which was spacious, nicely decorated with a good view. The staff were all extremely warm and gracious. Loved the cookies and milk each night! Would recommend to others without reservation. Location is ideal between Cambria and Morro Bay. Thank you!

We loved our stay here during the week , staff was very helpful and food was great. They made us feel at home and helped us find things to do. When we would return from a day of activities, wine and orderves would be at the door or milk and cookies depending on the time of day. The only weird part of the location is that the majority of places in town close at 6 and arornd 8 the town becomes a ghost town with a couple places open.
