Being frequent visitors to Cayucos, we checked out the Cayucos Motel on a recent trip. Basically we were looking for a value-option to the more expensive motels and/or B&B's in the area.

The Cayucos Motel seems to fit this bill very nicely.

The motel is small...just 9 or so rooms. It is located on the "beach-side" of Main Street directly across from the Shoreline Inn, which is a very nice place to stay, but....more expensive than the Cayucos Motel.

There is no beach view from the Cayucos Motel, but the motel shares the same approach road to the beach with the Shoreline Inn. So...you're literally steps away from the beach and/or Main Street with restaurants and cafes.

The room we were shown was fairly large, nice and clean with a king, mini-fridge and TV. At $75 (off-season) it is a value-option compared to a room "across the street" going at $125+ night although that room is both larger and better equipped.

When comparing the two properties, basically you get what you pay for.....!!

Our family stayed at the Cayucos Motel for the first time, arriving in town for a family reunion, and some R&R. What a wonderful location!

We stayed in Room #7, which is on the back side of the building (all by itself) and it's their largest room. It's got two bedrooms (one with a queen and one with two single beds) with a main room with a kitchen table, microwave, fridge, etc., and a nice spacious bathroom. It felt like we were staying in our own beachside apartment, not a motel! Our front door was just steps from the beach, and the street was private, and quiet.

I read the review about the bathrooms not being clean and the trash not being dumped. All I can say was our bathroom (and the entire living quarters) were spotless. The trash was dumped each day and they even put little candies on the beds (the kids were pretty excited about that!).

This is a friendly, family owned motel, and the staff is personable and friendly. We had an excellent experience, and will definitely be back!

Room Tip: If you have two or more kids, room #7 is the one you want!

I recently stayed at the Cayucos Motel for 2 nights in May 2011. It's a classic style "old school" motel. Rooms are small, but very clean. Beds were comfortable. The motel was a very short walk to the beach and restaurants. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I look forward to staying here again during my next trip to Cayucos.

My wife and I and our 6 month old baby stayed here over the weekend. It was a perfect fit. The room was spacious enough space for the king size bed we were in, a pack n play, and a bob stroller. The room an bathroom were vert clean and for the price you can't beat it. We were about 100 feet from the sand and the motel has a BBQ, ping pong table, patio furniture, boogie boards, and other things for the guests to use. It's a short walk to down town...and I mean a short walk. We will surely stay here again.

My mother and I have stayed here twice and have been very comfortable. It is an older motel, but it had everything we needed and the beds are very comfortable. The staff couldn't be nicer or more accommodating! It doesn't look out over the beach, but you are virtually steps away. Restaurants are within walking distance and are very good. The continental breakfast is not fancy but it did the job and we were happy to have it! Sometimes the clean-up could be a little better, but if you have an issue, they are very responsive. Also note, that staff is not in attendance through the night. They are also trying to sell the property.

Can't beat the price. Room needs some update but the quality of service and price could not be beat. Walk to beach is a couple of blocks and late check-out if needed. If your looking for a room on a budget with good serivce and the right value this is the spot. Keep in mind that it is a motel. But worth it!!
