We (2 couples) enjoyed a food and wine marathon dining day with breakfast in San Simeon at the Cavalier Restaurant (morning stroll on adjacent beach), a fabulous picnic (food from Soto's Market and bread from French Corner Bakery in Cambria) at the beautiful mountaintop view tables of Calcareous winery with bocce ball in Paso Robles and a gourmet dinner around 6:15PM at Hoppe's Garden Bistro!
Here is a Google Map of our stops to include the other wineries (all highly recommended):

Full Disclosure: We changed attire before dinner at The Old Cayucos Tavern & Card Room!
Not surprising, we were too sated to properly enjoy full entrees. Instead we each had a starter (Butternut Squash soup, Albacore Tostada, Red Abalone (Oscar winner) & Brussels Sprout Leaves) with 2 split entrees (Bone in Pork Chop and Filet Mignon) Also too stuffed for dessert (next time)
Our original intent was to order the tasting menu. But management requires everyone at the table to participate and you cannot split a tasting menu (next time). Improvising, we each tried a taste of all the presented servings.
The freshness of ingredients, seasoning blends and preparation of each course was absolutely delectable! Our server was fun (likes to surf) while providing just the perfect service pace (practices yoga) to properly savor our dishes. We brought a bottle of our own wine ($15 corkage) and ordered a nice Argentinian Malbec from the extensive and well crafted wine list. Between courses we toured the gardens (a little cool to sit outside) admiring the full ambiance of the facility. Simply a stellar dining experience!
Just another great day in California! Enjoy!
