My husband and I just spent our anniversary weekend here staying in a studio cabin, which was clean and had everything we needed. The owner/manager was nice and helpful. He also accommodated us with parking our two jet skis. We had a very pleasant time there and look forward to visiting again.

This was our first time to Big Springs Resort and we had a wonderful time. Lou, the manager, was exceptional - extremely friendly and helpful from start to finish. Our cabin was on the rustic side, but very clean and comfortable. Our family members stayed in another cabin, which was perfect for them. It had a great view of the lake with a nice deck for all of us to enjoy. I would highly recommend Big Springs Resort to anyone that is looking for a nice little getaway!

This was the second time I've stayed at this location in the same cozy little cabin. Big Springs is great as it can accommodate just about any family size. My boyfriend and I stayed in a studio cabin with a front porch that has a pretty good view of the lake. The cabin has a bunk bed with a full on the bottom and a twin on the top, a futon, a small dining table that seats three, a small bath with a shower stall and a small kitchenette. The cabins are fairly private with blinds on all windows.
The only thing that I have noticed both times is that while the cabin is clean, the wood floors have not been mopped. Though in all honesty, it probably wouldn't make a whole lot of sense up there with all sand and dirt.
The owner and his staff are very professional and friendly. I'm sad to see that this resort is for sale. I hope the new owners keep the prices and the service.

We just returned from a 4 nite stay at this cute little park with our travel trailer. It is not one of those giant asphalt parks - I believe there are about 8 RV sites and several cabins available for rent - again not a huge place, which we appreciate.

This place was clean and well managed - internet connection was great and all hookups worked properly. Guests and manager/owner were all courteous, in fact downright friendly. We were pretty much left on our own and had plenty of privacy. Bathroom was maybe 30 feet away and has 1 toilet and 1 shower - I assume the cabins all have their own bathrooms so they wouldn't even need the shower/toilet.

Lake Almanor is beautiful but hardly anyone on the lake when we were there in June - maybe not full summer season and wind was too brisk to put kayaks in the water.

Did a side trip to Lassen Nat'l Park and also Eagle Lake.

Room Tip: Grocery store is a few miles away. No immediate lake entry - must drive to launch kayaks.

The staff of Big Springs Resort were open minded and courteous and expectations were clear because no assumptions were made by us. We asked lots of questions to be sure we understood what was being offered and also to be sure our own unique needs would not be an inappropriate burden

We stumbled upon Big Springs Resort not as a place to vacation, but as a place to stay while working nearby, therefore our expectations may have been different from those of other people. However, our unique situation requiring accommodations for 3 dogs, 2 trucks and a cargo trailer were graciously accepted. We ended up having our kids join us too and the manager was very comfortable with them setting tents up outside our cabin. Therefore, what was going to be just another weekend ended becoming a very fun mini-vacation.

Extra towels, paper products, etc. were provided for our large group and most importantly, the manager and the owner were both EXTREMELY cordial and non-judgmental about our unconventional clown act.

This is not the Hilton, and it is not a high-end Lake front property and it doesn't claim to be. It is a clean, cozy, quaint, and flexible place to stay that has relatively easy access to all of the amenities of Lake Almanor and the nearby town of Chester.

Room Tip: Ask questions and be clear about your needs. Also be open minded, this is more akin to camping than...

We stayed in an RV spot at this resort and had a good experience overall. The manager Steve was helpful to us in several ways and even let us borrow an outdoor rug so we could avoid tracking in dirt and pine needles. There was a picnic table at our spot, which was handy for outdoor dining. While there wasn't much of a lake view (the lake is on the other side of the road from the resort), it was still a nice setting in a rustic part of the mountains. We have a 40-foot Class A motorhome (and hauled a trailer) and once we got into our spot, the hookups were sufficient, etc. It was a little tricky getting into the resort with our larger motorhome but it can be done (after unhooking the trailer, of course) and the resort manager was eager to help us get parked. There are several nice restaurants within minutes of the resort for dining out and a small grocery store is only a short drive away.

Overall, this is a mountain resort, not a typical "RV resort," and the accommodations are sufficient for mountain vacationing. Steve was helpful to us and we were thankful for his assistance throughout our stay.

We had a great time at Big Springs Resort. Our cabin was clean, roomy and nice. The view of the lake from our deck was awsome. We really don't have any complants. Yes there was alittle dirt and alittle pine needles around but this a cabin in the mountains. The owner, lou and the camphost, Steve were wonderful people with a lot of knowledge of the surrounding area. We want to thank them and are looking forward to coming back next year.

Room Tip: We looked in some of the cabins and some of them were small but looked confretable still. Look at th...
