The hotel was older however it was clean and the rooms comfortable, bed good and staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant had senior specials nightly which was a savings and the chef prepared tasty food.

Best Western is good place to stay in Clearlake. Management was responsive to Our requests. Good breakfast in hotel restaurant. Suite is nice with two televisions, sofa and chair. I would stay here again if traveling in Clearlake, California.

It's obvious that the owner of THIS Best Western is doing everything possible to cut corners and maximize profits.... from the tiny, rough bath towels (barely larger than a hand towel... seriously), to the cheap, thin, uncomfortable toilet paper, to the motion sensitive light switches... including one in the bathroom which we had to block with a towel so it wouldn't turn on in the middle of the night when went in there. The lighting was somewhat poor... low wattage bulbs I guess. The shower valve made a horrendous noise if positioned just right when running the water. The bedroom window was cracked open about an inch when we got to the room... because it could not close all the way! There was a gash in the metal at the bottom left corner of the sliding part of the window that inhibited it from closing. I guess housekeeping or someone never reported it to be a problem. I didn't report it because fixed it myself to get it to close (as much as possible). Even at that, they are just builder grade windows and enough gaps around the edges that a lot of road noise and parking lot noise seeps in. These just didn't close tightly. (Not the only hotel with cheap windows.) Someone apparently left a yapping dog in their car. I notified the Staff. Eventually the noise went away, whether the Staff did something about it or who knows what happened. The toilet flushed very slowly from day one, until the last morning it finally clogged. The restaurant breakfast is really quite good, albeit a bit over priced.. but I find that all food in restaurants in California is. When an omelet meal, juice and coffee run around $15.00 before tip, it starts to hurt the budget a bit. I'm not sure what happened on check-in. I requested well in advance when I made a reservation, for King room on the West side. We were give an Queen room on the East side, which the nice lady at the counter thought was the West side. :-) No worries... kind of funny... thankfully she could accommodate us moved us to a King room on the real West side. (Although, we may switch to the East side, as it seems like there are always working men that stay there and tend to gather in the parking lot in some evenings. The hotel workers were all friendly and helpful. I just think those other things mentioned above are the small comforts people look for in a hotel and can make or break a stay. As mentioned by others in online reviews, since smoking is done just outside the side door, aside from a smoke cloud when you walk in or out, the ground is littered with cig butts. Not only that, it was quite loud out there one night for an hour or so, as if every smoker staying there decided to have a party. There aren't many hotels in the area, otherwise I'd surely check them out in hopes of finding something better. Over all, it's an 'acceptable' place for where it is located. I don't know if anything in this survey will help. I've commented before on BWs I've stayed at multiple times but nothing seems to change. I probably won't do any more surveys because of that. Even with all its quirks, since it's the about the only place to stay in Clearlake that is near our purpose for visiting, at least the beds are comfortable and once the night people stop gathering outside in the parking lot, I guess at least you could say, 'it could be worse'.

I stayed at here in June 2013, visiting my daughter who lives in the area. The motel was overpriced for what you get. The rooms were nice, but the A/C didn't work well. (my son-in-laws mom stayed there in August and said it was still not working).
They have a pool, very small but a pool.
The staff was fine.
No breakfast included.

One thing that bothered us was all the side and back doors were unlocked. You did not need to use your key to enter, so anyone could be coming in and out easily. You did need a key to get into the pool.

However, it is the best you get in Clearlake, CA. Clearlake is a depressed town and lots of things boarded up or closed. So the sagging energy of the hotel fit the area it was in.

Very bubbly and friendly welcome, and immediate help offered with our luggage and to find a safe parking place for our motorbikes. Spacious room, very reasonably priced compared to some other places we had stayed at. Didn't try swimming pool and Jacuzzi but looked nice! Bar staff (Donna) great host for us chatty bags till late in the night, prices were very reasonable actually. We had dinner in the restaurant on location, food was ok but the tap (iced) water had a strange taste to it (we found that with the tap water there in general). Restaurant staff also very helpful and accommodating food wishes where possible. We would recommend a room without a view as that would be away from the road. Breakfast was actually really good.

This is why I ,m a platinum member of Best Western Motels. This place was a perfect place to stay! Clearlake is not big town but this motel made it a pleasure to stay there. We were greeted by a smiling upbeat young lady that gave us a great quiet room. The furniture was upscale and bed was firm and every was super clean. This was one of the best hotels we stayed in while touring northern CA.. It was close to everything and quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub very much.

Structurally there is nothing wrong with the property - unfortunately the technical infrastructure (e.g. internet, air conditioning) needs attention, and some of the staff need re-education in the meaning of "service". But it is the only full-service hotel in the area ...
