“A Great Getaway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2013

We were looking for a relaxing get-away spot to spend a couple of days exploring the lakes and golf courses around the area and were very fortunate to have discovered the Lodge at Whitehawk. The accommodations, food, and friendly service all exceeded our expectations.
The breakfasts, which were included, were delicious, as was the Weds night barbecue dinner on the deck, where our dog could join us and socialize with the dozen or so other friendly dogs playing on the lawn.
Jerry and Mary Anne are superb hosts, and they and their staff made us feel very comfortable and welcome. It was obvious that a lot of their guests are return visitors, and I could definitely see why. I'm planning to watch for their website special rates and make this an annual trip.

My wife and I just returned from a two-night stay in the Mustang cabin at Whitehawk Ranch. We drove up for a golf getaway and some adult-time, and it was wonderful. Everything was perfect. The dinner in the lodge was awesome, and the breakfasts (included) were just the right thing to get us going in the morning. I have recommended this to all of our friends, and we will probably lead a group of us up here sometime soon. Thanks for the hospitality!

Went there with our two sons, 7 and almost 4. Perfect. Very nice hosts. They even lowered the basketball hoop for my son. Very yummy food at the restaurant - breakfast included. A bit of a splurge in terms of price, but very comparable to other area options. Would go back. Three nights was just right.

Escape the Tahoe congestion & enjoy great hiking, fishing & golf in one of the most beautiful locations you are ever going to find. Calling the lodging "cabins" is almost a misnomer. They are very upscale & perfect for a romantic get away. The lodge restaurant serves great food & it is just a short walk from your cabin. If you are looking to treat yourself or your significant other to something special I highly recommend a stay at the Lodge at Whitehawk.

We loved the Lodge at Whitehawk Ranch (as did my 8- and 10-year-old children) and scheduled a second trip for next summer before we left. There are 14 private cabins and a main building that holds the restaurant and bar. Meals are served to guests as well as local residents of the private community. The other amenities too (e.g., golf, pool) are for guests as well as residents. Our cabin was spacious and lovely. It had a charming and rustic feel, but was very comfortable and luxurious at the same time. The breakfasts we had were very good, and they made pancakes for my children even without our requesting a "kid friendly" option. The service was so, so friendly and welcoming. This resort is the perfect cross between an upscale, private small hotel and a personalized bed and breakfast.

Room Tip: The cabins on the right side of the road look out over the meadow, instead of looking at other cabin...

The quiet serene setting was just what we were looking for . . . of course, we were there in the fall when few people were around. The website does not do the lodge or cabins justice - both are calmly charming, exceptionally clean and comfortable. Our cabin was spacious and well appointed - no phone but a tv, AC, small refrigerator, and wifi. It is a short walk to the lodge for filling breakfasts and dinners. The staff couldn't be more welcoming and congenial. The golf course is one minute away and spectacular. Hiking trails abound about 10 minutes away from the lodge but there is plenty of walking to be done on the large property. We will absolutely return!

We stayed two nights in September at the Lodge at Whitehawk and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The private cabins are a delight. Our cabin, number 7, is decorated in Early American style and no detail has been missed, from the antique framed drawings on the wall to the painting on the trash can. Great hiking nearby, delicious breakfasts, friendly owners and wonderful scenery. We enjoyed dinner here the first night and drove to Packer Lake Lodge for dinner the second night, both meals were excellent especially considering where we where. For a great getaway, a stay at the Lodge at Whitehawk is highly recommended.

Room Tip: Cabin number 10 has the best view, with 9 and 11 the next best.
