We went to Savvy on First for brunch on the next-to-last day of our vacation in Sonoma County -- too bad we didn't go there earlier in the week or we would have been there every day. Although the restaurant is small, they were able to easily accomodate our party of 10 (four adults and 6 children, ages 9-12) within minutes. Our server was extremely friendly and patient with the children, welcoming the substitutions we suggested, e.g. cheddar cheese instead of goat cheese, etc. Although the menu is quite gourmet, the kids (some of them are very picky eaters) devoured their meals. The brioche french toast was to die for! The scratch-made biscuits were amazing, and the kids said that the hot chocolate was like drinking liquid gold! The adults were also thrilled with our orders -- my husband, my brother and sister-in-law all ordered the chilaquiles which were spicy but decadent, and I had the Farmer's Market Skillet which had layers of delightful flavors from crispy potatoes to cheesy spinach to a perfectly cooked egg to creamy sour cream! Not to mention the Bloody Marys we all ordered that were made with house-made pickled vegetables. We loved our meal so much that we stopped for brunch the next day on our way out of town! As soon as we entered, they started to make the children's hot chocolate -- they treated us like family. We are so disappointed that we missed their special fried chicken that they serve only on Fridays! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone -- even to the foodies down in Healdsburg. It is worth the drive up to Cloverdale to have brunch at Savvy on First!
