We stayed at the Chukchansi while visiting Yosemite. Although it's about 75 minutes away the hotel has everything you could want, beautiful rooms, at least 5 great restaurants plus huge casino all in a countrylike setting. Service was great, rooms were spotless and checking in and out process done with total ease. Would recommend and definitely stay here again.

Upon checking out Chukchansi does not tell you that they hold fifty dollars of your money. When trying to get it back you are told that it takes 2-10 business days before they release YOUR money. When asked they tell you that it is the banks fault, when they are holding your money.Chukchansi had NO problem taking your money but they sure do not like giving it back. It is Highly Illegal do retain any money held for deposit after you check out will never stay there again.

We planned a last minute trip to Yosemite National Park. Since all the hotels inside the park were full, we decided to choose a hotel outside the park. We chose this hotel because it had a casino inside - we thought we can have some fun after a long day at Yosemite. The whole family loved playing the slots and the roulette tables. Some of them are retired and frequent the Reno casinos to pass time. They were surprise to hear that we had payed over $150 per room (we got 2). In Reno, for that price you can go to the 4 star Peppermill or the Grand Sierra. I know you can't compare Reno and Coarsegold, CA, but if you want my retired family members who frequent casinos to come back, you have to be comparably priced to other casino's that are equal distance from their house. Other than the price, the hotel was nice, it is about 30 minutes from the yosemite south entrance. It has a variety of restaurant options. The italian restaurant was great and the buffet was also good. The hotel rooms need a little bit of updating - for the price I payed.

My family and I booked a last minute trip to Yosemite. We could not get into any of the lodges within in the park and did think too highly of most of the motels in the surrounding towns. We stumbled accross the Chuckchansi during one of our searches and thought it would be an interesting combination, a Vegas style resort, within an hour of Yosemite's south gate. We were hesitant because we would be taking 2 kids to a casino resort (smoking, gambling, etc). We could not be more wrong, and pleasantly surprised. The resort was full of kids, the casino had pretty good ventilation, and the restaurants were removed enough to not smell of smoke. The rooms were very nice, comparable to a Vegas resort (like the TI) with granite top vanity, desk, and tables, and two comfortable queens. My wife really liked the bathroom fixtures, a nice bronze instead of the usual silver. The TV was a flat panel, although no HD signal (when will hotels realize that flat planel TVs are BAD without the HD signal). The pool area looked nice although the heated water was still cold for us Floridians. The food was good, and a great value. The buffet was right up there with the TI in Vegas, although far behind the one in Belagio (keeping with the Vegas comparisons). There were plenty of choices besides the buffet. The drive to Yosemite is nice through Coarsegold (don't blink or you'll miss it) and then Oakhurst (a little bigger). Once in the South Gate to Yosimite, you can turn right for a quick 2 mile drive to the Sequoia Forest, or left for an hour drive to Yosemite Valley (mostly up to 6,000 feet). Either way, the views are amazing almost right from the gate so driving is part of the visit to Yosemite. All in all, highly recommended if you're like us and like to avoid VERY old motels in small towns. Some looked nice but those were all booked well in advance according to one guide, the ones still available were OLD.

I wanted to take my son to see the beautiful Yosemite National Park and my wife and I don't mind a little gaming action at night also. So we chose Chukchansi Hotel and Casino as our base for a five days four nights vacation from July 19 to 23.

Every aspect of the hotel met or exceeded our expectations. A bright and comfortable lobby. The grounds are well maintained. The room was nicely appointed and clean. There are both an outdoor and indoor pool and jacuzzi right next to each other. So you can always move inside if it is too hot outside. The staff members were friendly and helpful. The check in was a breeze. We got a room that was located in the new tower facing the west. So for a couple of nights we just relaxed in our room watching the sunset after dinner.

We were pleasantly surprised that the restaurants' prices(at least the ones that we tried) were relatively cheaper than most comparable Neveda and California Indian Hotel and Casinos. A large cup of freshly brewed regular coffee at the Bakery is only $1. 3 eggs and bacon or sausage at the Goldfield Cafe is only $6. Pho with beef or chicken at the Noodle Bar is also $6. And on Wednesdays, the steak and seafood dinner buffet is only $8.99 with players club card(Go early! We waited almost an hour). All the foods were very good.

Both my wife and I love to play the penny machines. And of all the Las Vegas, Reno and California Indian Casinos that we've been to, Chukchansi has the most penny slot machines. They have all kinds, from the latest ones to the old ones, from reels to videos. I am sure you would find yours. And Chukchansi is one of the few casinos that still has my favorite, the old Star Wars slots. It was great.

My in laws were on the same trip but since my sister in law is easily bothered by smokes, they stayed at Days Inn in Oakhurst. But it cost $55 more than our room. And their sons said everything there was inferior to Chukchansi's. Also during our stay, it happened the hotel's doing upgrade on their internet system and for some reasons we didn't have to pay for access to the internet. So it was another saving of $40 for us.

On the second day we visited Yosemite Valley. Unfortunately the Caltrans were fixing a 5 or 6 miles stretch of Highway 41(I am not sure why they do this during peak summer season). Because of the gravel surface and couple of one lane traffic control, it took us two hours instead one to reach the Yosemite Valley, plus the extra wear and tear on your tires. But once we got there, the secneries were simply awe inspiring and spectacular. The Tunnel View stop is must. We dropped by the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center for lunch. It was packed and we had to circle quite a bit before finding parking. Since we didn't want to spend another 4 hours round trip, on the third day we scrapped our plan of driving to Glacier Point to see the Half Dome. Instead we went to Mariposa Grove on the south of the park. We hiked up a mile to see the majestic giant sequoia trees.

We enjoyed our stay very much and since we haven't nealy explored most of the Yosemite National Park, we will be back and do the Yosemite and Chukchansi combo again! It can't go wrong and neither will you.

We stayed here because we wanted a few days in the Yosemite area and everything closer to Yosemite was ridiculously overpriced. If like us you use this as a place to stay and can ignore the madness of the casino, and don't buy their bottled water (take your own) or pay for wifi (use the free business centre in the lobby) then you will get a good deal. We booked on-line direct with the hotel and paid $125 per night there is no breakfast included in this price but the restaurants on site are very reasonably priced for good food. We had a lovely room in the totally non smoking new tower, it was extremely quiet and very comfortable. We also took advantage of the lovely swimming pool which goes from inside to outside with a nice bar area. It is a bit of a soulless place, but hey who cares as long as it is comfortable and pleasant to stay in. The drive to Yosemite is about 35 miles but does not take very long as the road is good.

Chukchansi (locally known as "Chuck & Nancy's" ) sits high on a hill just south of Coarsegold in Yosemite country. We were amazed at the swarms of swallows nesting under the eaves and swooping around the casino. The hotel is well kept, with a bright and comfortable lobby area and clean rooms with the usual amenities. We had an 8th floor room in the new tower. In the casino the slot machines seem to be brand new including some with stereo sound effects, e.g. the Wizard of Oz. There is an enclosed No Smoking room but be sure to take a sweater. During our stay the slots were generous. An older crowd was staying and playing. It seems many people stay here then drive into Yosemite; it is not as pricey as accommodations closer to the park. The only negative comment we had was no-one offering to bring us drinks in the casino. We arrived around 11 am and did have to wait until almost 1 pm to check in.
