Reviewed 25 July 2014

The Lodge at The Rolling Hills Casino is a beautiful hotel.Really nice, comfortable rooms and wonderful staff. It is attached to the casino and the free breakfast at the buffet in casino is really good. Have stayed there 3 times and look forward to the next time. The casino is great too

Room Tip: the 3 we stayed in were all very nice and comfortable

The customer service at this resort was great, the pool was nice and cool, the breakfast buffet (free to guests) was pretty good.

The rooms are stocked with the usual fridge, microwave, hair dryer and coffee pots, plus two cans of free soda pop, trail mix and popcorn.

We were in the jaquzi room (great price $150+) and they had lots of towels, the bed was very soft (pillow top maybe)

My biggest complaint was that the room doors were heavy and spring loaded, so all night the doors up and down the hall kept banging closed and waking me up. I know that guest sould be considerate enough to close the doors gently, but the property should do something to mitigate the noise, I have been in church building and school class rooms where the door frames have stripping that softens the impact and noise

Thank you for taking the time to write an informative and helpful review. We are very glad that you enjoyed your room and your stay. The doors are a problem, there are laws about hotel doors being self-closing, and they must close hard enough to trigger the latch for security reasons. We have tried several different thicknesses of stripping, but have not been able to find the perfect balance yet. Either it is too thin to do any good, or it is too thick to allow the doors to latch by themselves. The search continues, but until then, it is nice to have people like yourself to make others aware of the courtesy needed in hotels when closing doors.
We do hope you will visit us again and enjoy the comfort of our rooms.

My family went to stay at the Lodge because it had an indoor pool and my little girl wanted to swim. My wife and I weren't allowed to stay in a king room because we had a 2 year old and a 6 month old. Never been to a hotel that didn't allow this. We were forced to stay in the most expensive room available. Although we we're given a slight discount it was still was too much money. At an attempt to talk with the manager we were simply shrugged off. She was obviously upset that she had to come to the counter to actually work. I will never stay there again. I don't think I can use the word that would describe this manager on this site.

Thank you for choosing our Vagabond Inn Executive and Lodge at Rolling Hills for your stay. We have a great indoor pool, and we hope your daughter was able to enjoy it. We appreciate you taking the time to share your insight on TripAdvisor, and hope our comments below will help to explain a little.
There is a fire code in our county which determines how many guests may be in a hotel room, based on the square footage of the room. Our hands are tied by law in this matter. Even though we would love to accommodate families, to be safe, we must not break that code. Unfortunately, when you walked into the hotel inquiring about a room, the only room we had which could accommodate more than three persons, besides the rooms with two queen beds, which were already occupied, was our Master Jacuzzi Suite. This was offered to you at a 25% discount.
It is our goal to give each guest individual attention. Our manager had several other guests at the desk she was helping to get checked in. We apologize if this felt that your issue was not being taken seriously, that was never our intention.
We do hope you will give us another chance to serve you better. If you decide to come again, please call ahead for availability as the number of our rooms with two queen beds which can accommodate families is rather limited. I am sending you a private message with contact details if you wish to discuss this further.

We have stayed at this Vagabond Lodge a few times now, while doing a bit of gambling at the Rolling Hills Casino. Friendly staff, great breakfast at the Casino buffet.
The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. Would recommend to anyone.

We have stayed here before and love the atmosphere of a smaller hotel as well as the great service. There is a indoor pool area, an arcade, a casino with a few different restaurant options. We came to celebrate Derby Day, a 60th birthday, as well as pre Mothers Day. We will come stay here again soon, great place and great service. Comfy rooms, well stocked with a microwave, fridge, and other amenities.

Room Tip: Any room is great, just ask for an additional pillow for the king beds.

This is a very nice hotel. While not new the hotel has been kept up nicely. I couldn't make a reservation online for the room I wanted so I called and was amazed at how quickly the room was reserved. Check in was also very quick and the clerk was friendly. The rooms are a little small but that's not a big problem. They need an updating for the TV's, still old style. But there is a small microwave, refrigerator, safe, desk, table with 2 chairs, a stuffed chair, hair dryer and morning coffee maker, (but they have coffee in the lobby also). The beds are VERY nice and you have your choice of soft or firm pillows. Rooms are quiet and very clean. I couldn't find a problem. Also it's nice to be able to walk from the casino into the front lobby from a side door, you don't have to go outside. Fantastic looking lobby!
We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Make an advance reservation, they book up.
