Description: Established in 2002, Coronado's locally owned and family operated Village Pizzeria offers an authentic slice of New York City in the heart of beautiful Coronado, California. Using only the freshest ingredients, Village Pizzeria prides itself on going to great lengths to preserve the integrity of the iconic New York style pie, down to importing authentic New York water to replicate the perfect thin crust dough. Located just a block away from the Pacific Ocean, the restaurant's original Orange Avenue location provides cozy interior dining and ample outdoor seating, allowing guests to enjoy the coastal vibe of the area. Village Pizzeria's second location opened in 2007, just steps away from the bay, boasting a spacious event-ready patio perfect for any family gathering. With nearly 20 pizzas to choose from, Village Pizzeria also delivers a healthy, tailor-made spin on old-school New York pizzeria offerings. Touting four different crust options for each pizza-original NY-style crust, thin crust, Sicilian style, and gluten free-as well as a variety of specialty pizzas such as "The Billy Goat" a white pie with fresh spinach, roasted red peppers, onions, sun dried tomatoes, basil, balsamic vinaigrette and goat cheese, as well as "The Islander" with Canadian bacon, pineapple, onions and bell peppers. In addition, the restaurant's menu features a variety of made-to-order salads, pastas, calzones, hoagies and desserts.

We stumbled on this little gem while walking down the street looking for happy hours. The smells wafting out enticed us in and we ate here twice during our 2 night stay on Coronado. The first night for dinner we tried the Pasta Pomodoro.with roasted tomatoes and a delicate yet flavorful white wine sauce. It was delicious as was the salad with the house italian dressing. The next day we tried happy hour with half off appetizers. The fried artichoke hearts stuffed with garlic and goat cheese with lemon basil aioli were amazing as were the garlic knots (not too garlicky). I also tried the sliders which are a meatball on a halved garlic knot...everything was delicious. A slice of pizza was $2.50 so we each tried a slice of that as well but the pizza was nothing extra unlike everything else we had! I can't wait to return to Village Pizzeria the next time I visit Coronado. It is located on Orange Avenue right across the street from the hotel La Avenida and a few steps away from the Hotel Del Coronado.

We visited the Hotel Del Coronado for a long business awards weekend. We were walking around in the early evening for something other than what the hotel was offering and wanted to try some of the surrounding places. We heard from people that if we wanted a great pizza to go to the Village Pizzeria, well we took the short two block walk and saw this place on the corner, there were a few people sitting and eating and we took a glance at the menu and asked to sit, we sat outside nearest the sidewalk, It was amazing just relaxing in such a beautiful place. Our server quickly came over to greet us and take out order. As we waited for our pizza we were watching the play a version of beer pong, but not drinking was done, It was a way to attract customers if they got the ball in a cup they could get 10% off their meal or even a $25.00 gift certificate. I again was just in awe , our pizza arrived at the table, should have ordered the smaller one, it was the Supreme one of the BEST pizza's I have had in a very long time. Village Pizzeria you did a great job not only with superb service but a fantastic pizza. We hope to come back to the area as we have family living in IB and Village Pizzeria is on our list.

We enjoyed the patio view and dining experience overlooking the main strip on Coronado. If you eat outside they aren't allowed to serve alcohol. The food was good, we loved the garlic fries!

In contrast to Island Pasta, this place was wonderful! They were really great with the young kids in our group, and everyone was friendly and helpful. They even kept a birthday cake cold for us while we ate. We also ordered out from them on another night, and the food came pretty fast, and it was just as delicious as when we ate in. Overall, I think this place was really great. I would highly recommend them.

Friendly staff and a decent atmosphere and the menu looked tempting so we gave it a go, but, sadly, it was no better than average. The pizzas didn't really justify the prices, although everything on Coronado leans towards the expensive, they weren't terrible but no better than I would expect to come from any of the major chains. So, sadly, the special dough using the "special" water didn't give us much to shout about in the end!
