“Great Stay on Coronado”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 July 2011

Resort was located direcly past the Coronado Bridge. VERY Friendly staff and the Valet was personable and welcoming. Desk staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Rooms were a little far to travel to and a bit of a search. Air conditioning did not seem to be working, but San Diego has perfect weather so it was no big deal. Beds were comfortable and rooms was big and pleasant.

Room Tip: Ask for a Water View

My wife and I stayed here two nights for a business meeting and, WOW, what a great location! We sat on our balcony at night and looked at the lit up skyline of San Diego. Sailboats would parade back and forth most of the day giving us that great "resort" feeling right in the middle of a downtown area.

Hotel staff were all very pleasant and, though upscale, the hotel never took on that pompous attitude of so many big chain hotels.

Food in the area is anywhere and everywhere you look. If you can't find a great new favorite here you better stay home! A couple of our favorites close by are Candelas On the Bay (walking distance of the hotel) and de Medici in the gas lamp district.

Rooms were very comfortable and private with a bathroom to die for. I wish hotels would stop charging for internet services, but they did have a very well appointed business center that was available for free.

My husband and I stayed at the Marriott Coronado Island for a few nights after spending some time in San Diego. It was a great change of pace and the we thought the hotel was lovely. Our room was huge and well furnished. Although we did not swim, we spent a lot of time relaxing and reading in the chairs around the property. The dining and bar options at the hotel were not too appealing and often over-run by large group events. But there are many restaurant options (both nice and fast food) within walking distance.

Resort? No but relaxing and clean -- and easy downtown access. Took less time than previous stay at a hip Kimpton in tbe Gaslamp to get to our destination downtown. Waterfront running / biking path, great views. Very good hotel dining but so many good restaurants within walking distance too. We have stayed 3 times. Off season is a true bargain.

Family of four stayed for 5 nights over July 4th holiday. Did alot of research before selecting this hotel but reviews here and hotel website a bit misleading......it was more of a business or convention hotel than a resort. Not particularly family friendly........we planned to use pool and tennis courts in evenings and hotel website did not indicate that villa pools and tennis courts close at 8pm! On the fourth of July - security kicked us off the tennis courts at 5pm! Closing early due to holiday! What? This is why we chose this hotel to enjoy the 'resort', guess not. Restaurants and lobby, very business like. They offered buffets but way too expensive for average family, but probably works for the business clients. The website also said they rent bikes. Well, it's actually a vendor that has nothing to do with the hotel and very limited supply of bikes..........so all that said, it didn't feel much like a 'resort'. Our villa was nice, and the location is great. Wish I had seen the tip about parking on the street, @ 22.00 a day for parking was steep! The Hotel Del Coronado is much more of a resort - even a beach.......but VERY expensive. There aren't alot of choices on this small island for families of average income.......but this one might be best available. If my husband and I go back to Coronado, we'll stay at a B&B.

I stayed at the Marriott a few weeks ago for one night for a business meeting and liked it so much I took my family for July 4th weekend. This is a really nice Marriott resort that is reasonably affordable. The rooms are very large (go for a Bay view room - worth it!). This is a spread out resort with a series of buildings (total of around 300 rooms). I was VERY surprised at how uncrowded it seemed even during a holiday weekend (the hotel was fully booked according to the front desk). The pool was crowded as expected, but it wasn't unreasonably so. My only complaint is the pool - it was way too warm (it was in the high 80's during the day). Definitely stay here if you plan to visit San Diego (short hop over the bridge) - nice path along the Bay / some good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

I am a Marriott Platinum, so I've stayed at a lot of Marriott hotels. This ranks as one of my favorites.

We spent 4 nights at this hotel. The price was a bit high but we were incredibly happy with the location and our room. We had noisy neighbors above us for the first two nights, managment upgraded our room for the last two nights. The Villa room was very nice and serene. Private ponds and pool were very nice. Staff in all areas of the hotel were polite. Rooms, hotel, restaurant were clean. We would definately stay here again.......

Room Tip: Villa rooms worth extra money.
