“Great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2014 via mobile

The hotel has a great location. It is very close to the beach and has a good view of the Coronado bridge. Walking distance to the shop and to the water taxi (flagship) that brings people to Downtown SD for $8(RT). The hotel is clean but the room is smaller as compared to other Marriotts. There is no microwave and we have to request for it. The staff are respectful. They accomodated are early check-in request which is a plus. However, during breakfast, we felt like being neglected by our server. We waited for 20 minutes but just decided to leave. We dont want to ruin our day with a confrontation so we iust brushed-off the issue. Over-all we will go back because of the location and because Marriott has a good membership program.

The family went to San Diego to do some sports fishing and we decided to stay at the Marriott Coronado since it was one of the very few places that had a two bedroom villa. Check in was a breeze and the host was very pleasant and accommodating. There is a cost to parking either self or valet so be prepared. Since we were in the Villas, we got to park right up to our building. We booked a two bedroom Bay view villa. The room was quite large and very nicely appointed in creams and beiges. We also had a small kitchenette in the room with granite counter tops, plates, flatware, glasses, small fridge and my favorite, a KEURIG coffee maker with an assortment of coffees, teas and hot chocolate. There is also a private patio in the back surrounded by a hedge and a small canopy of trees for some shade with a table/chairs and a couple of loungers that overlook the bay. It is perfect to have a meal and watch the boats go by. The room also comes with a large spa tub and a two headed separate shower stall. Beds are very comfortable but for some reason the pillows are these very small, flat squares. You may want to bring your own if you're able to do so. There are also many activities available at the resort - swimming, biking, tennis and a wonderful promenade that is right on the water which is excellent for a morning jog and/or an evening stroll. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and as my dad said when he first walked into the room "Oh yea. We're going to be staying here again".

Room Tip: If you are staying in the Villas, do not give you car to valet when checking in. You will be able to...

The hotel is a bit older, but the rooms are really large. I did not have the knowledge to ask for a well located room (i.e. bay side, pool side, a view of something other than the front parking) so my room was not the best location-even so, it was clean and large. Bathrooms are a but dated, but functional none the less. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the location is really amazing. Steps from the ferry dock to downtown, and lots of restaurants you can walk to - there is a nice path that runs along the water behind the hotel that I highly recommend exploring. I would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: ask for a water view, and away from the lobby doors!

The weather was forecasted to be around 79 degrees so my husband and I decided to drop the top on the convertible and take a quick weekend trip to Coronado Island. We went to priceline.com express deals, clicked on 4-star accommodations on Coronado Island, and were happy to get the Marriott Hotel for $130.00 per night. At check-in, Hanna was very welcoming. She was also knowledgeable about the area and provided us an itinerary of activities occurring at the Marriott over the weekend. She also suggested other places for us to eat and visit. We were impressed with her attentiveness. We upgraded from resort to ocean-view and Hanna assigned us room #385. The room was on the 3rd level (top floor) and toward the end of the hallway. It was very close to the ocean and had a great view from the bed and the balcony, which we liked a lot. The room was spacious and included amenities like a very deep tub, refrigerator, safe, and a nice robe. We really enjoyed the time we spent on the balcony, as we were able to take in the wonderful views of the San Diego skyline, Coronado Bridge, people walking and biking on the path below, ducks waddling in the pond, occasional boats passing by, and occasional paddle boarders. I had two gripes about the hotel: carpet stains and the loud noise I heard during the night. I could hear the doors closing as people entered/exited their hotel room and if a loud group passed by the room (which one did around 2:00 AM), I could clearly hear them also (Lite sleepers beware!). I downgraded the hotel one star for this, as they should at least be able to remove carpet stains and make adjustments to the doors to reduce sound when closing. Thankfully, we were near the end of the hallway, so traffic in the area was at a minimum. On the flip side, my husband didn't hear any of the noise and has suggested we make this a routine lounging spot as he really enjoyed the location. Overall, it was a great stay for us and I'm sure we will return in the future.

Room Tip: Select an ocean-view room on the third floor toward the end of the hallway. Bring earplugs if you ar...

On a whim we decided to extend our vacation by one night. We decided to try this hotel. We are so glad we did. The staff was very warm and welcoming. The lobby was bright and clean. We were given a room that overlooked the pool, the bay, and the bridge. The room was spacious and very clean. I really liked the separate shower and tub in the bathroom. The balcony was large enough for a family of four to sit outside. The kids loved sitting out there and watching the boats, especially the Navy ships! We ate at Current three times. Every time the food was great and the price was very reasonable, especially for the quality. There is also a ferry that leaves right from the hotel that takes you the Marriott at Seaport Village. This was fun for everyone as well. This was an excellent, family friendly place to stay. Can't wait to stay here again!

Great place for families to stay and explore Coronado Island and San Diego. This was our first time to San Diego. As other reviewers said the bay view from the hotel is amazing. I also enjoyed watching the boat activity from our hotel room. The fitness center is spacious and enjoyable to workout in. There is a lap pool and beautiful tennis courts attached to the fitness center complex. It is within walking distance to the ferry which will take you across the bay to downtown San Diego. The room decor is outdated but clean and comfortable. The dining area is very nice. The breakfast buffet is expensive. A few cons that really bother me as a traveler: Daily charges for internet use (and it was slow) and daily parking fees. Our family was very comfortable there and would definitely stay there again.

The Marriott was a good pick for us. This was a first trip to Coronado, and we were unsure of pretty much everything! The Marriott was somewhat pricey, but our room had a beautiful view and was quite spacious. Loved having a safe and a fridge! Bath supplies were always full and had a yummy fragrance. The Marriott has a nice bar and a pretty good restaurant (GREAT breakfast). Those were the things we just didn't know where we would head for at a small non-chain hotel, and is why we chose Marriott. The pool area was good sized with many chairs, hammocks, tables and plenty of towels. It was quite busy on the weekend, but virtually empty on weekdays. You can get service any time at the pool. Right in front of the bay view is a lengthy walkway that takes you in both directions. Beautiful views of the ships and sailboats and the downtown area across the bay. The walk goes by multiple grassy parks and is quite scenic. The staff is excellent and go out of their way to make you happy whether it is mixing a drink or getting your car for you: OUTSTANDING STAFF! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
