Hotel lobby is adorable. The suite needs to be updated. Rug and couch felt grubby. The bathroom is extremely tiny and has fixtures from the 70's. Towels are old and stiff. Nice closet space and air conditioning adequate in the winter months. The food concession in the lobby is your biggest asset. The woman overseeing it was lovely. Coffee was good but food just OK. Staff at front desk on Thanksgiving day was not knowledgable about surrounding area and seemed like they just started working there. In short, they were not even slightly helpful.

Thank you for leaving a review of our property. I am shocked to hear that our staff was not able to fully answer your questions about the area. I will use your feedback to help retrain the staff on the importance of our concierge services. I will also have our Housekeeping staff double check all of our older rooms to ensure that they still convey a fresh feeling for the guests.

Our hotel is always changing and looking to improve its facilities. We are currently looking to renovate more rooms in the Spring of 2014. I invite you to revisit us again soon, so that we may prove to you the level of service we provide our guests.

Thanks again for staying with us.

First time in Coronado and wanted a convenient, boutique hotel. Found on line and the location and photo gallery intrigued me. Stayed in king suite upstairs off lobby. Although kitchen seperate it was poorly stocked (2 cups, 3 water glasses, no wine glasses, etc). Bed super comfy ! Nice little balcony overlooking the courtyard but very noisy due to kitchen operation, yelling staff members and such. Ask for the king suite overlooking the pool area, may be less noisy. The continental breakfast is cute and convenient when you're on the run. Too many times I attempted complimentary coffee in lobby to find it ice cold ! Overall the staff was helpful and pleasant, the room was comfortable, TV's updated and wall mounted. Shower decent and abundant hot water. The cleaniness , trim work, and furniture needs attention. I would consider this a budget hotel and if recommending would be sure to include that aspect, a little worn, needs some attention, yet convenient, attentive staff, comfortable bedding, and a cute experience.

Room Tip: when checking in, view the room first (some smelly and not so nice), if you don't like it, ask t...

We enjoyed our stay...the hotel is kitschy, the room could use some updating. The couch in the living room looked worse than my brothers college apt. Yikes...BUT. The most important part (to me) the bed and bathroom were clean.
Mexican restaurant, and seafood restaurant downstairs...WONDERFUL!

We love Coronado, and for me and our family of four, including two youngsters(ages 7 & 10), we always look foward to returning to El Cordova.

Returning this year, we brought friends who stayed in the original mansion part of the hotel- a beautiful 1 bedroom with a "Romeo and Juliet" balcony overlooking the courtyard and pool, a large dining room and a kitchen. We stayed, as before, in a nice 2 bedroom at the north end with stylish wood floors, 3 tv's, tiny bathroom, and small kitchen.

The place is laid out like a Spanish village. The kids love exploring the shops, going to Miquel's, the central courtyard restaurant, and doing lots of swimming. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The whole place has a wonderful, Old World, faraway atmosphere to it.

They provide you with vouchers for continental breakfast in the courtyard- the staff there are very sweet. Or you can use the vouchers for discount at the bakery/creperie. They'll also light the grill for you to cook outdoors.

The pool is clean, but was cold this year. We had beautiful weather, and the kids swam no matter what in what was mostly used by them. Hot tub was hot. Plenty of towels.

Our activities this year: the gorgeous beach right across the road, Legoland(plus or minus), Zoo(lions and tigers and pandas, oh my. We enjoy riding the escalators through the rainforest),
Disneyland- go real early, avoid the weekends, and you'll have a great time.

Ferry across the bay, Seaport Village, Maritime museum- climb through some subs; The Seal ride- which tours land and sea. Biking on the path from the Ferry Landing; gelato store, great candy store, lots of shops restaurants, the Del, Coronado Playhouse(saw "Suds"- funny with great tunes. Last year we did Lamb's theatre).

Do Little Italy for lunch; Balboa Park- this year we did the AIr and Space Museum(Absolutely super!) and Ripley's was there as well; kids loved the carousel at Balboa next to the zoo(grab the brass ring for a free ride!) and at Seaport Village. Lots more to see and do(see previous review)- great town, great hotel.

Room Tip: All the rooms are different. Choose a room based on price and needs, e.g., basic room(fairly inexpe...

Thank you for the wonderful review of our hotel. It sounds like you had a fun and busy trip! I would like to apologize for our unheated pool at the time of your stay. It seems that our heater has given up and will need to be replaced. The problem is being addressed and will be corrected shortly.

Thank you again for spending time with us and we hope to see you again next year.

Just home from a wonderful week in San Diego. Stay in this lovely hotel for a few nights on Coronado. Our 1 br suite was perfect for us and our daughter. Staff were outstanding, very friendly and accommodating. I actually got a terrific rate with a promotion from Groupon. Location is really good, in a nice plaza right across from the Hotel Del Coronado and the beach access. Nice area to run/bike. Some other reviews had mentioned noise being a problem but our room was quiet and noise was not a problem. Went though in November, low season. The staff here were really outstanding. Because there's no on site parking, we had parked on the street at a meter on our first day; got distracted looking around and walking over to the beach and then on a bike ride down the boardwalk. Called and asked staff if they could put a quarter in our meter and not only did the manager do this for us, but then would not take any money/tip in return. Everyone was super nice. I'd gladly go back and plan to when I can! Love this place and the area. Thanks to the hotel and to mgr, Mica, for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: We liked the 1 br suite with a pullout sofa. It was upstairs with a nice view of the plaza below and...

We stayed here for my 50th birthday in one of the one bedroom suites with a kitchen and balcony the overlooked the inside patio. We loved the decor and the apartment feel to the room. The location is unbeatable and the ambiance romantic. We felt like we were in old world Europe. We will definitely be back and potentially to use the grand salon for a formal event.

As others have stated there are two drawbacks- one is the lack of daytime parking (metered between 8am and 6pm. The other was the noise- we were right above the kitchen and pantry of the restaurant downstairs, and early the next morning they were steam cleaning the floors well before 8am. That said, its not any noisier than hotels in Europe in a commercial district and we were not put off and will definitely return and stay in the same room.

The staff and manager were absolutely wonderful and accommodating.

Room Tip: Inside rooms are likely quieter and more accessible as the upper flors don't have elevators.
