“fun day”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014

The beach cost $10 for use and it also seres as a camping site for a larger fee. We were guaranteed parking close to the beach unlike what we would have experienced at Coronado. The sand is REALLY fine with silver/gold sparkles everywhere. it's a hort beach so we had to move our beach blankets a few times as the tide slowly crept in. Lots of sea weed washing up, made it a bit dirty looking because of it. great swim, great waves. Good sand castle making sand. Life guard on site. Showers and restrooms on site. Made for a pleasant day.

“The only beach we had to pay to visit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2014

$10 to get into this state park beach. You'll find sea shells here and fewer crowds than at Coronado Beach. We thought it was boring, but others might like it because it's quieter and less commercial.

“Nice spot”

Conveniently located, plenty of parking, clean. The bathrooms left much to be desired, though. Easily accessible to the hotel.

“Practically sleeping with your neighbors!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

We stayed at Silver Strand State beach at the RV camping spots June 13-15. Do not go here if you are expecting a quiet beach camping. You are literally on a cement pad and you are so close to your neighbors that I could barely open my slide outs on my 27ft travel trailer. There is water and electric at your site and one free dump you can use near the bathrooms.
You can hear the road all night long and people and more people. You are so close you can hear them sneeze!
The only way I would ever go back is if I was in a spot right on the sand. You would still be close and touching your neighbors but at least you don't have anybody behind you, just the open beach.
The beach is okay. There was a lot of trash. My daughter was playing in the sand finding seashells but every other piece she showed me was only bits of trash. We ended up walking thru the tunnel under the road and played on the bay side. It was much calmer, no wind and cleaner.

“Awesome beach”

This is walkable from our hotel and is a beautiful public beach. Loved being able to walk there from our loews hotel. Beach is actually nicer by the coronado del.
