I stayed at the Hotel Del for a conference and I must say it is one of the nicest hotels that I have ever stayed at. We had a suite literally right on the beach with a view of the ocean. The staff was extremely nice and very accommodating to all our needs. I will recommend this hotel to anyone that visits San Diego....and FYI it's haunted which makes your stay even better :)

We usually don’t see the words “romance” and “haunted” in the same review but we’re pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate your recognition of our exceptional staff and recommendation. Hope you return again soon.

I recently stayed at this hotel for a conference, but came a day early to enjoy the area. The hotel is right on the beach. Enjoyed both a sunrise & sunset walk on the beach. There is a lot of history at the hotel. Be sure to explore & ride the old elevators.

We stayed in the Cabanas. Our room & bathroom were very large. We had a balcony overlooking the Towers, but could see a sliver of the ocean. We could definitely hear it. The room & bathroom were very clean. There was a refrigerator in the room.

There are several restaurants and great shopping on site at the hotel. Also, there are many other restaurants and shops within walking distance not associated with the hotel.

The conference space was nice as well. Numerous rooms for meetings and the Grand Ballroom for large gathering. All food reserved at the conference was delicious and healthy. Welcoming party and band on the beach was fabulous too!

This hotel knows how to do it right!

hotel del is a wonderful resort for families looking for some california sunshine. the service was excellent. staff members were helpful and very friendly. of course, we all loved the beach and crystal clear heated pool. the kids may remember the historic elevator the most. great food everywhere we dined.

Room Tip: the rooms are not large and they don't all have stunning views of the ocean... but the charm of...

If new and shiney is your thing, go elsewhere. Wood everywhere, old school elevator with a bellman, ghost on the third floor, good amenities. How can you go wrong with a place that has a candy shop on the premises?

Of course the location is silly, one of the best beaches I've been on coupled with an easy walk to downtown Coronado which made the $8 corona feel indulgent . However, looking over the water from the sun deck, catching sight of dolphins cruising the break, really didn't mind the price or feel compelled to walk across the street.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I stayed at this hotel for just under a week. It is a beautiful complex and despite the age of the hotel, the rooms are modern and in good working order. Due to an unfortunate design flaw in my bathroom, I needed to change rooms. The staff were quite accomodating and allowed me to examine 4 different rooms, before choosing. I had no other difficulties after that point. I do recommend the main building (Victorian)- the lobby and courtyard are beautiful. The views of the entire complex are amazing at night.
The bar has some very unique historical drinks, albeit a bit overpriced. The restaurant Sheerwater serves excellent fresh seafood ... the on-site restaurant Eno Pizza and Wine Bar, is a fun and trendy site- with excellent artisan pizza.

Room Tip: Request the Victorian Building.

Thank you for your kind endorsement. We are pleased that you enjoyed this iconic resort and its dining selections. The 125-year old Victorian building does have its charm. Originally there were about 425 guestrooms and 71 public restrooms. The addition of private restrooms and removal of fireplaces lowered the guestroom count to 368 and ensured that no two rooms are identical. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back again soon.

I love the Del! How can you not love it, the location is incredible. There are new places to explore around every turn. I thoroughly enjoyed their spa and it's staff as well. What an includible place to stay. My only disappointment, and it was a big one, was the cleanliness of my room. I stay in many hotels each year, it can be a small one or a large resort, but I expect the bathroom to be clean! Water stains on the mirror and sink from the previous guest, coupled with dust in all the corners. But worst of all was the mold in the grout line and caulk of the tub. Unlike other reviewers, I DID share my disappointment with the front desk and they fell over backwards trying to make it right. (I did not accept any of their offers, only want to see them communicate the complaint.) I thought the person I talked with truly cared and was disappointed for me. I only hope that housekeeping gets the same message. Hotel Del, I will be back again in the Spring and I look forward to giving you another chance to make it right.

We appreciate your loyalty and candor and we are equally as disappointed as you were in the unacceptable service issues you encountered. We do share customer feedback with the appropriate management so we can make the necessary improvements. We are pleased that you enjoy the resort and grateful for the opportunity to provide you with legendary service in the near future. Thank you for your valuable input.

We stayed in a Villa Suite (Bedroom and Living Room/Kitchen). Décor tasteful -- clean and modern look. Furniture in good condition.

Large bedroom with comfortable king bed and ample closets. Bathroom very large, including separate tub and shower, WC; only disadvantage was that guests staying in the living room pull-out (comfortable and prepared nightly at turn down) need to traverse through the bedroom to access the bathroom.

Living room light and airy. Small but functional kitchen; although we mostly ate out, the kitchen worked nicely enough to prepare a good steak dinner at the room (Von's grocery is just a few blocks away).

Nice sized balcony with views of ocean (we were in the back row, second floor; first floor would probably not have ocean views).

Check-in was with the host/concierge at the separate entrance for the Village. She came to the car and guided us directly to our room. It was there we were asked whether we wanted morning or afternoon maid service, early or late evening turn down service. Maid and turn down service came within scheduled times and did a nice job cleaning and providing replacement toiletries. Check-out was at the Windsor Cottage, a private club house for Beach Village guests where a terrific breakfast was served each morning (inclusive). The concierges at the Cottage were always friendly and accommodating, making one feel like a guest worthy of the room rate.

Good internet access (in room and on grounds) was included in the room rate/resort fee.

The Beach Village grounds were beautiful. The architecture is "beach," but not cartoonish. There is a main pool (separate from the hotel pool), that was always quiet and well attended by friendly staff. Drinks and nice lunches are available to order. There are a number of smaller still more private pools on the Beach Village grounds. Fitness facility at the main Beach Village pool was well-equipped and clean.

Although we toured the hotel and its grounds (all fantastic to see), we found little reason to spend much time there. Beach Village has it all and is right on the beach. Clean and wide, we spent several mornings either walking along the shore or sitting reading the paper (the hotel supplies beach chairs and towels). Weather was San Diego reliable -- just about perfect. Refreshingly cool at night and early morning. Swimming-comfortable much of the day.

Although we had a car for off-Coronado touring, there was little reason for a car on island. It was easy to park on street within a block or so of Beach Village. We did so instead of paying a most unnecessary $40 per night on-site parking fee. Orange Street, with countless low-key casual restaurants and shops begins right at the foot of the hotel, making for nice walks in search of and after dinner.

Would most definitely return to Beach Village: a most satisfying stay. As I am writing, I cannot recall anything worthy of complaint. Wait, I just remembered: a too-complicated Logitech remote for the living room TV -- just frustrating enough to prompt a return to the balcony to listen to the ocean.

Thank you for sharing the details of your wonderful experience. It is great to know that we exceeded your expectations and will be returning, hopefully very soon. We do regret your remote control was difficult to operate, but it sounds like you found a better use of your time. We are looking into what can be done to simplify its operation. Outside of the remote, we are thrilled you enjoyed your Beach Village Experience and look forward to welcoming you back as our valued return guest.
