What an amazing place! Beauty, activities, first class service, wonderful rooms, excellent food, fantastic location...all on the Pacific coast. This is a true 5 star hotel. They accommodated all of our requests and we had some challenging ones! From the valet to the front desk staff to the young ladies at the fitness club who helped our daughter with her scavenger hunt clue, these are the nicest staff ever. The eateries, bars and shopping are a destination unto themselves. Don't miss Sunday brunch in the Crown Room...it's world class dining! Rooms are beautiful, spotless and well appointed. And the beach is paradise!!! Cannot wait to come back to The Del.

Love this hotel everything about it. Good food great service and nice room.Hotel is on Coronado island so you have to go on bridge. Nice shops with unique things to buy. Really pretty love it there. Across the bridge is San Diego. Nice little get away.

This is the first time we stayed at the Del and it was one of the best holydays we ever had. We took the front beach view at the old building and it was worth the extra cost. There is nothing like waking up in the morning and sitting on the porch in front of the beach.
The food all around was very tasty and the atmosphere at night was great. Even though the building is old the rooms are very modern and had everything you need in it.
The hotel is located in a great spot and a walking distance to everything you need in Coronado.
Yes, it's pricy but I would still recommend this hotel to everyone.

Thank you so much for the sentiment - we agree, there is nothing quite like the beach in the morning and, if you're out on the beach early enough, sand dollars line the beach for the taking. Thanks for the review, thanks for being our guest!

The food is great, the service friendly and courteous...rooms in the old section, interesting and comfortable. The location on the beach can't be beat.. But this place bustles all.day.long. Kids running in and out...etc. it's relaxing and quiet on the beach but you have to pay extra for the privilege of a chair. The real issue? Parking. It's clear to me from other reviews that they know it and won't be addressing it in the short term while the earmarked funds get spent on the long term solution. I can't even tell you how much it disappoints me that this is the way they handle a known problem. We left for the day, came back tired and drove through the lot twice unable to find a spot....however, there are MANY valet spots. We talked to the attendant and when it became clear to us that she couldn't care in the least that in spite of being charged for parking, we had no place to park, we were completely flabbergasted. We were told we could leave the car up by the front and come move it later "the valets don't mind" or we could continue to drive through until a spot was available. My suggestion of letting us use a valet spot near the end was met with flat denial. God forbid there wasn't enough spots for them! The rest of us? Tough luck. For shame hotel del coronado!

Absolutely agree - the response you received from our team member is completely unacceptable and not at all aligned with our service commitment. We're terribly sorry we didn't take the extra step to accommodate your parking needs and do hope you'll forgive this service lapse. Obviously not every member of our team was "friendly and courteous" as your review indicates - we've definitely got work to do in the parking area and will increase our focus. Thank you for your feedback!

We stayed in the Cabana room at poolside. Beautiful room with patio steps away from nation wide famous beach. Rooms are modern and beautiful. I feel privilege to enjoy the beauty and history of this famous hotel. Take the Historical tour with concierge for only $15. Well worth the time.
Excellent customer service at front desk. Thank you.

Room Tip: Cabana near poolside and beach views. Floor level close walk to everything.

Thank you! We, too, appreciate the history of The Del and work closely with the Coronado Historical Society docents who provide tours of the Hotel del Coronado on our behalf. We're glad you enjoyed the tour and hope you'll be back for another visit sooner rather than later!

One may initially gasp at what two days at the Hotel Del costs until one understands the experience. The Del is truly an experience. By no means is it just another hotel by the beach. In a "Disneyesc" methodology, one transforms and instantly leaves the "world" at the lobby door and walks into a different time; much like walking into Main Street Disney will do for most.

The hotel is almost 126 years old. It is not level in most places and the history oozes from every corner. The walls are at least 18 inches thick and it is so quiet in the upper floors, one can almost hear, if not certainly feel, the presence of the guests that have stayed in the past.

When my husband and I stay at the Del, I always ask to stay in the oldest part of the hotel. Don't let it's age fool you. This hotel is absolutely the best hotel I have ever stayed in and that includes Disney. The service is so top notch that one almost expects the staff to be dressed in coat and hat.

Yes, the costs are staggering. My husband and I decided to stay in for the second night, watch a movie and order room service. Movie rental: $16.99 and room service for the white cheddar burger, fish and chips, and two sodas... $95 plus a $10 tip.

This brings me to the food and drink. The Del is very big on sustainable food. They grow their own herbs and try and use local farm to table product. This shows in the quality of their food. We have eaten at the Del's restaurants and eateries for years. THERE HAS NEVER been a bad meal.

As we were leaving yesterday, we were doing a final walk through of the hotel, deciding which room we want to stay in for the next time and they were painting the 5th floor crown molding, which is probably the 150th coat, LOL. As we walked by, we thought about the cost of the up keep of this grand place. The Hotel was almost bull dozed and to see it still standing as one of the most beautiful places in San Diego, is a marvel.

We know it takes a lot to keep the hotel going, staff paid, etc. YES, this place will make one go broke if one is not careful, however, with planning, one WILL have an experience that will last a lifetime.

My advise to those of you that want to stay here...

Plan a budget and double it just to safe. You won't be sorry for the experience.
