“Best tour”

I love segways! If you've never been on one, it's easy and so much fun. Way better than a walking tour, bicycles or other means of transportation. We had a fun tour guide - Bobby - who was friendly and had a lot of information to share along the way. I think this is the best way to see Coronado and enjoy the beautiful weather of San Diego. Tip: don't forget to put sunscreen on your hands!

“Fun sightseeing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2011

Segways are such fun to ride! An easy way to sightsee and go a good distance in short amount of time. We toured on the water front and Glorietta Blvd. Beautiful flower gardens and houses along the Blvd. Our guide was very personable and gave us tips on eateries for lunch. We had fun!

“A total blast! What a fabulous way to see the island and learn the history too!”

They are very thorough teaching patrons how to ride the Segways before the tour. Our guide, Bobby was very personable and knowledgeable about Coronado landmarks. This is an all ages type of activity. Our group consisted of my 21 year old daughter, who loved it, me, and another Segway lover I'm estimating to be 60-ish.
I can't tell you how enjoyable our day was.

“Incredible Tour and Guide”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2010

What a wonderful experience! We arrived at Segway of Coronado slightly nervous as we had never ridden one of these contraptions before. From the start our guide, Norm was there... giving us a helpful primer on how to mount and dismount, travel safely and maneuver around - to the point where we were extremely comfortable.
Then we were led on a great tour of Coronado, where Norm showed us the sights, sounds and eats of Coronado - again with patience and panache. Highly recommended - I was lucky to stumble on this through TripAdvisor and would certainly recommend to a friend - In fact I already have!

“Fun Even After The Crash!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 August 2009

We had been intrigued about these genius, gyroscopic machines for some time. Given a beautiful day on Coronado Island, it was time to put the Segway through the paces. Just my wife and I were on the Tuesday morning tour with Carol our terrific instructor and guide!

Segway of Coronado is located around the corner from Tartine an absolutely wonderful bakery and french-style cafe with outdoor seating. We highly recommend for the early morning tour arriving before hand to enjoy the delicious bakery treats or possibly breakfast. Tartine also offers panini sandwiches and salads for lunch but excels in the bakery category!

Oh yeah.....Back to the Segway:

The 2-hour session starts with simple, in-training mode, starts and stops, standing turns and practicing in-line convoy style sidewalk touring. We breezed through the training and it was off to tour Coronado. Early on there were symptoms with Mr Strand that he was losing control of his machine by accelerating when trying to stop and pulling to the left. After an hour and a half the symptoms manifested themselves in a crash along the bay levee heading back to the shop. There were scrapes on one knee but the bruises to his ego were code blue! These machines are a breeze to operate and extremely safe. It actually is a mystery to our guide and to Mr Strand himself how he created these "crash" conditions. Mrs Strand cruised the entire time without even one glitch! There is some history to consider. Mr Strand can snow ski without falling for days, on black diamond slopes, but he ran into the lift line on his first day of skiing!

The tour is leisureful with lovely vistas of the San Diego skyline, cruising along the waterfront past the ferry docks, our hotel at the Marriott, passing under the impressive Coronado Island bridge, around the Coronado Golf Course and throughout the older Glorietta Bay neighborhood. But the real attraction is actually the Segway itself.

Given the lengthy training, use of the machines and relatively far distances you get travel, we would highly recommend this experience and we consider it a "value" for your money!
