The newly renovated theater is a cozy, not too crowded place to see current movies. It has a nice feel, great atmosphere, clean and plenty of snacks & drink choices. Highly recommended if you live down town in San Diego, IB or Coronado.

Think of the classic 1920's movie theater(s) in your region: The Palace Theater in Albany, The Alabama Theater in Birmingham, The Oriental Theater in Milwaukee, The Albee Theater in Huntington WV, The Mayan Theater in Denver, The El Capitan in LA--you get the idea. THEN think of the cozy accessible neighborhood theaters that used to exist in lots of small towns. Put these two things together and you get the really wonderful experience of The Village Theater in Coronado California. My wife and I live in San Diego, and every once in awhile after we've been to the beach or we're just in the mood for a classic movie EXPERIENCE, we stop by for a movie at The Village Theater. Recently restored, it features one large screening room seating perhaps 200 and two more intimate rooms seating perhaps 50-60 each,so one tip would be to buy tickets in ADVANCE to avoid disappointment. They feature the best of what's on at the multiplexes, some indie films, and an occasional "classic" ("Hoosiers" at the beginning of the basketball season.) Lots of restaurants nearby and plenty of parking. I could go on and on about the art deco restoration, leather seats, fresh flowers in the lobby and restrooms, lighted murals (again--evoking the classic movie theaters) on the walls of the auditorium, red velvet drapes, etc, etc, and I'll take some pictures to post the next time we go, but really--do yourself a favor if you're in San Diego and take the 10-15 minute drive over to Coronado to see a movie at this theater. Highest recommendation..
