We just spent Easter weekend at the Glorietta Bay Inn one Coronado Island. It was a great stay. We had a two queen bed room in the modern section overlooking the pool. It was clean and comfortable. The old mansion building is beautiful. The continental breakfast is a big plus, and the location can't be beat. It is right across the street from the Hotel del Coronado, and in walking distance to the beach and all the restaurants and shops in town. We will definitely stay here again for future trips. The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars is that the bathrooms are small and only have a shower, no tub.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from Orange Avenue, which is noisy.

San Diego, in general, makes for a wonderful vacation -- the weather, beaches, animal attractions and restaurants are world class. This trip we stayed on Coronado to get to know the island. The Glorietta Bay was a great choice. Directly across from the Del Coronado, marina and beach, we had a very nice room overlooking all of that and the pool. The staff made us feel that, even on our first stay, we were their favorite guests ever. Everyone at the front desk went out of their way on every request and question we had. Their suggestion of Peohe's Restaurant for dinner was wonderful. The hotel is walking distance to downtown and to the San Diego Trolley stop which is perfect for doing tourist things. I now have a hotel on Coronado and this is it. Can't wait to go back!

We recently spent 2 nights at the Glorietta Bay Inn in Coronado, and loved the hotel. We stayed in the Contemporary section and had a great room overlooking the marina, and the pool. Very bright and spacious. The kitchenette was perfect. Everything was spotless. The bed was ever so cushy. The staff could not have been nicer, or more efficient. I'd highly recommend this property. Add to it, the location (across the street from the Del Coronado, and the beach), and it's perfect for a weekend stasy.

Room Tip: The second floor corner suite in the Contemporary section was terrific. We'd request it specifi...

We traveled to San Diego for spring break stayed at the Glorietta Bay Inn for 4 nights and were very happy with our decision. The only issue we had was shortly after checking into our room, the guests above us arrived to their room and were extremely noisy yelling, running, and jumping. It sounded like a herd of elephants had arrived. I went to the front desk to express my concerns and they promptly moved us to a better room and location. With that said, the building construction isn't real sound proof because we could still hear a small amount of noise from other rooms, but not like we had initially experienced. The rooms were simply decorated and the beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. We also found our room and the grounds to be very clean and well maintained.

We enjoyed the complimentary continental breakfast. It consisted of cereal, oatmeal, pastries, muffins, toast, bagels, juice, yogurt and amazing fresh fruit - oranges, mangoes and pineapple. Living in Minnesota you do not have access to freshly picked fruit so it was a real treat.

They also served cookies and hot apple cider in the afternoon.

The location of the hotel is perfect. You are across from the Hotel del Coronado and have access to the beaches. There are many good restaurants and shops all within walking distance as well. And the price is much less than what you would spend staying at the Del. We spent much of our time visiting the Zoo, Safari Park and Sea World and it was easy to access all of these attractions from this location.

My husband and I stayed at Glorietta Bay for 3 days in Jan. 2012 and stayed in the mansion part of the hotel. The location was perfect, across the street from The Del and the beach. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed the historic Coronado tour that was complimentary. The rooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated and we loved the nightly cookies and milk. We thought about staying at The Del but couldn't justify spending so much more money. Glorietta Bay was perfect for us! We did eat at The Del a couple of times and loved walking the grounds and the beach. We look forward to returning to Glorietta Bay sometime soon!

Glorietta Bay is an old mansion, with tastefully added motel wings, directly across the street from the famous Del Coronado Hotel, which is a must see attraction in the San Diego area. There are a lot of small motels in the area, but this seems to be the nicest, and the mansion has a very interesting history. The pool and jacuzzi are small but fine, the service is excellent, a very good continental breakfast buffet is included in the historic music room and on the outdoor patio, and the rooms are large and well appointed. There is a charge for parking, but after the first night I parked on the street. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The mansion rooms are more expensive, but they look like they're special.

The Glorietta Bay Inn is right accross the street from the Del and you can walk to the beach, shops, and restaurants easily. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room had a private patio overlooking the pool and there is a nice balcony next to the lobby where you can eat breakfast or just lounge around and read or daydream. This is a very nice hotel: clean, quiet, and a great location. If you just wanted some r&r or you wanted to sightsee, I would highly recommend this hotel.
