Guest services here was really great. We came in early so we couldn't check in right away but the people working at the desk were really wonderful. Valet service was also very good. Even when they were busy with a party at night, they quickly took our car and had a great attitude. Calling down got us the car right away every day.
Inside the room, we had a junior suite. This comes with a love seat and a chair, a small dining table for two and suprisingly a great little work table that my 6 year old son loved!! He did all of his drawing there and felt like it was his special place. The love seat pulled out to be a queen bed and accomodated my 3 1/2 year old and 6 year old nicely. They had extra bedding in the closets and we called down for more pillows. It was pretty comfy. The room itself is only 430 square feet so it wasn't huge but there is a door that fully closes between the two rooms so it was nice to be able to watch TV and not worry about the kids waking up.
The bathrooms were standard size. Not impressive, however, it was perfectly workable for us. I did like how they had extra blankets, extra clothing hangars and you could call down to get a key for the mini bar refrigerator so that you could use it as a fridge. The mini bar was stocked so we had to move stuff around to accommodate our food but it wasn't weighted like some bars so there was no fee for moving things in and out.
The best, best part was the pool. It was small in comparison to other 4 star resorts but it was so well heated. Wow! I never jump into the pool with the kids but I was in and out of this pool like crazy. Plus they have a jacuzzi that wasn't scalding hot. My 3 1/2 year old splashed in it. The towels were fresh poolside, it was well kept and clean. The only down side was that there is no bathroom nearby so I had to run my daughter through the lobby to get to a bathroom! Bummer. That takes away one star.
I also worked out in the fitness center twice. It had 2 treadmills and 1 elliptical. Pretty small. It had a few weight machines, but a full selection of dumbbells and 4 yoga mats. I worked out with two other people both times and there was enough room for us since we all did different things. A bonus of the fitness center is that it has a sauna! I didn't use it, but the fitness center is right inside from the pool, so I guess you could do both. BUT there is no shower for you to sweat, shower and go to pool. So you have to go back to your room after going into the sauna.
We used to stay at the Westin in Costa Mesa right next door and that was fabulous. BUT from now on we are staying at Avenue of the Arts Wyndham! The pool is better, the room is bigger and I like the people who work here.
