“Poor, poor, poor!”
Reviewed 22 December 2012 via mobile

We visited Capers on a busy Saturday night. Service was generally okay. The food was on the whole awful and very over priced. After mentioning the visit to some friends, I found out that they could have warned me about how much this restaurant has gone down hill in the last few years.

“Overpriced, overhyped and overcooked”
Reviewed 22 December 2012

Couldn't fault the starter, beyond this it was diabolical! My £15 medium steak was burnt, gristly and flavourless; overcompensated for by a sauce too rich and a mediocre cauliflower cheese. Desert was advertised as chocolate fudge cake; what I got resembled a microwave suet pudding minus the moisture, served on a bed of warm frothy ice-cream. At £30 per head we felt robbed, not even taking into account the plastic found in one of the deserts of our party we walked away hungry and confused as to why this restaurant seems to be held in such high esteem by the locals

“Poor”
Reviewed 21 November 2012

The first review is so obviously written by the owners it's embarrassing.
The pizzas aren't pizzas, they are flans. Don't go if your expecting a traditional pizza with a nice base.
The lasagne had very little meat in, and my children's pasta was over cooked coloured pasta out of a packet. How hard is it to make fresh pasta?
It was honestly one of the worst meals we have had.

“Excellent Food”
Reviewed 12 October 2012

Capers Italian Restaurant is situated very very close to Beaulieu and Exbury in the New Forest. And is on the route to/from Lepe Country Park and Calshot Activity Centre.
Whether there is a group or just you on your own you will love the food here. They cater for the very young and parties.
You are greated with a smile by either Steve or one of his staff and taken to a nice table, The Menu not only has delicious home made Pizzas and Pastas, but also steaks and Roasts. The Sweets are scrummy too.(They make Gluten free too) All the food is cooked to order not zaped in the microwave.
What Iove it the Pizza Platter - half of my chosen pizza with salad or chips. My son adores the variety of puds and my husband likes all of it!
The restaurant is also a Takeaway so if you need to get home just pick up whatever you want

“Hidden Gem!”
Reviewed 12 August 2012 via mobile

Visited Capers within the last couple of days after a short break to the wonderful New Forest. The meal was simply brilliant. Service was second to none and a great friendly atmosphere. The food was great and food value for money. The restaurant is very accessible based on a main road running through a quaint village. There is free parking on the road after 6pm. We are regular visitors to the forest and now will deffianately be back to Capers!
