Having contacted the resort a few days earlier, my partner and I, having arrived on the Manila flight into Dumaguete, were duly met at Liloan port by an Eden driver (a very friendly one at that), dropped back at the resort for a few minutes (drop bags off etc) and then taken direct to the whale shark beach (no more than 10 mins away by road). Said driver waited for us while we swam with the whale sharks, and was even waiting for us with towels when we returned to the van. Seamless.
In respect to the hotel/resort, it’s a lovely quiet and peaceful resort consisting of 10 rooms.
Our room (No1 nearest to the pool) was a great size, spotlessly clean, well equipped, including a well-stocked mini bar, lovely double bed, fully functioning AC (and ceiling fan), loads of wardrobe/storage space, and a small but more than sufficient bathroom. Whilst not a deal breaker our water pressure was just ok, nothing special, but no problem. There was a good quality flat screen tv c/w with a good picture (a rarity in Philippine hotels) with a good selection of channels.
And like all the rooms it had a lovely balcony overlooking the bay with a few chairs and a table.
I think I'm right in saying the wifi should only have worked in the main restaurant/bar area, but we could also get access in our room/on the balcony which was handy.
The main hotel area consists of a beautiful infinity pool, with a bar and restaurant (some seats outside overlooking the pool, some inside overlooking the outdoor seated area and beyond), and provides an ideal area to chill and take in the view, either in or beside the pool.
We had a lunchtime snack and dinner the day we arrived, and both were lovely. They have a main menu (for dinner only I think) which works on a rolling basis, with several (5 or 6 from memory) different dishes available each night, and from first glance I was of the opinion there was something for everybody on each night. There was also a small choice of other standard dishes available every day.
As commented by a previous reviewer, if you're at the bar by 10pm you'll likely be the last one (apart from staff) but that's fairly normal for this part of the world, people come to parts of the Philippines like this to dive and chill, not party till 3am. As a result it was total tranquillity by 10pm, leading to a sensational night's sleep.
Breakfast was included in our room rate, and was cooked to order (usual choice of Filipino or American), and again was lovely.
There's a small walkway which leads down to the sea, and what is just a coral covered beach area, limited if any sand (maybe a different story at different times of day).
It was perfect for snorkelling, though as we were warned by one of the men working at the diving centre attached to the hotel (though you'd not know it unless you took said walk) the seabed closest to the hotel was a sprawling mass of sea urchins, so be careful where you stand! And in truth there wasn’t much else to see under the water from my experience. The resort has some kayaks available free of charge.
There is also a tennis court within the resort, which whilst having seen better days remains in pretty good condition. The resort has rackets and tennis balls free of charge.
We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful, which is all you can ask.
All in all I think it’s a great little resort. Ok it's not the type of place you'd come to for a long period of time, though in my opinion that has more to do with the area than the hotel (very little to do apart from the whalesharks, unless you're using it as a base for diving) but I think it's absolutely perfect for anyone passing through for a night or 2, and I'd have been happy staying longer.
