My husband and I just got back from San Bernardino,CA. We spent the weekend up in the mountains for some fresh air --- a.k.a. we needed a break from LA's smog and hideous traffic! I had been looking for a place to stay for his birthday weekend and we were lucky enough to find North Shore Inn on the Lake Arrowhead chamber of commerce website.
We expected the service to be satisfactory and rooms to be decent. Lo and behold, and lucky for us, we had a really nice surprise in store.
The room we had was overlooking/right across the lake. The room size is good, with cable TV, microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee-maker with coffee and condiments provided complimentary. The room was very nicely appointed, the memory-foam topped bed was sinfully delicious, the linens were divine, and oh my lord, the pillows were just heaven (and there were lots of them too!)! The bathroom was nicely appointed as well. Everything was kept very clean and smelled fresh. No old/musty odors here!
Although the inn is in a central location, somehow their glass door/windows were very effective because we hardly heard anything at all once it was shut. The balcony is nice and spacious, we were able to send a couple of hours playing Trivial Pursuit and went totally bonkers on these wood puzzles called "Brain Benders" -- both play items of which were provided complimentary by the Inn keeper.
We loved the place and are definitely going back soon. We always used to only visit Lake Arrowhead for the day. But with our new "Inn Discovery", we are definitely doing weekend overnight trips from now on. Lake Gregory in Crestline, CA is a mere 7 mile drive to Lake Arrowhead so it's very convenient. And it's uncommericialized atmosphere (unlike Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead) was a definite, definite plus. All the more we loved it!
So, if you want to experience a quiet, weekend mountain getaway, I strongly suggest you check this place out. You just might get a little piece of CA heaven like we did!
Kudos to North Shore Inn! Keep up the good work! And we'll be back soon!
