“Brief but very pleasant stay”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

We stayed only 2 nights in this beautiful home with very warm and interesting hosts. We have family in Culver City but were not able to stay with them this time. This provided a wonderful alternative. Restful and very comfortable. On street parking was never a problem. Would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to others.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at this one-of-a-kind lovely contemporary craftsman home in Culver City. Frankly, unsure whether to trust a #1 rating with only 3 B&Bs in town, the location made the decision for us. Luu and his wife Nam Hau, who are exceedingly interesting conversationalists and well-traveled hosts, have created a Zen like environment, a short walk to the vibrant Culver City center awash with restaurants and shops. The photo here must be old. Currently, there's a lushly planted front yard, a driveway with potted cacti and succulents. Other reviewers aptly describe attractive amenities, including the quiet neighborhood, that make this B&B so special. Breakfast was juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, and coffee/tea. One day, also sliced heirloom tomatoes topped with ricotta cheese on thinly sliced and toasted baguette. Note: the upstairs private bath has a beautiful claw foot tub/shower that could be a bit challenging to enter if, like us, you're seniors. While in town, be sure to walk the trails in the nearby Baldwin Hills State Park and visit the quirky "Lower Jurassic Technology Museum."

Room Tip: Upstairs room is very quiet. Seniors might find tub/shower entry a bit dicey. Anyone with mobility l...

TripAdvisor reviews had led us to expect something more than the usual B&B and we were not disappointed. The lovely gardens and inside floors combined with the peace and beauty of the amazing koi helped us relax immediately after the traffic and stress. Friendly and helpful hosts finished the picture. We were a little concerned about eating out in the area but there is a whole square full of restaurants, bars and a cinema within easy walking distance. The historic Culver City Studios provided a point of interest. We would stay there again and recommend Craftsman to all TripAdvisor users.

The beautiful, Japanese style home and garden Luu and Nam Hau have built is simple, elegant, comfortable, quiet, and immaculately clean. You step out your private entrance into an wonderful sunlit rock garden enlivened with a koi pond. The owners-hosts are so knowledgeable, well-read, humorous, and and accommodating they turn quickly into friends. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

First, I generally do not give five stars, so my four stars isnlike most peoples's five stars.

Luu and Nam-Hau have built a carefully designed home. We appreciated the thought that went into all of the details that went into this lovely and serene house. They are fabulous hosts, gracious, well-traveled, well-read, and interesting to talk with. They have a wonderful garden that could be a topic of conversation for hours.

They do not serve a full breakfast, however when we were they they served fresh fruit, a small amount of yogurt and granola, juice and coffee or tea. The coffee was made in the Vietnamese manner (except for the condensed milk), producing a very good strong cup of coffee. It was the perfect way to start the day.

The location is desirable. For a very good wine tasting, check out The Redd Collection on Warner Drive in an industrial area of Culver City. Also, if you are there on Thursday, you may want to check out the farmer's market in downtown Culver City.

If you want to watch tv, this is not the place for you. If you want nice ambiance, a home environment, gracious hosts, excellent value and a good location, and appreciate Craftsman and Japanese design, this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Downstairs shower in the bathroom that goes with the queen bed room is preferable to the claw foot t...

Luu and his wife are such lovely people--which was mirrored in the elegant, simple and homey home they have built. The price made it even better. We have a four year old and the downstairs room with the second small bed was perfect. Though they aren't doing breakfasts any more they did put out granola, soy milk, tea/instant coffee and fruit--which was great. And they are so close to great cafes (Akasha was the one we liked) and Trader Joes! Highly, highly recommended. I hope we can go back here someday.

Just like the other comments, Luu and Nam-Hau were very nice and helpful. They always give us suggestions about places or things to do as we stayed there for 10 days. Everything at their home is neat and simple, yet beautiful. We would say Craftman house is much more cleaner then most of the motels and B&Bs we have stayed before.

We have three girls staying in the first floor room, with a double bed and a single bed. It was a little bit crowd but thats only because they gave us the extra bed. We loved the huge closet because we didn't need to fight for spaces.

The location is excellent too! With a rental car, its only 20 mins away from the airport, and easy access to other point of interests. We almost couldn't believe how close it is to the Universal Studio. It is also very close to Santa Monica or Venice Beach, its only a 10-15mins drive and you could enjoy the beaches!

We were so glad that we picked Craftman House, we used to refuse to stay in B&B but now Craftman house really changed our mind. We really recommend this place.

Detailed wood and stone workings. The house was built with environmental friendliness in mind. Heating is by hydronic heating system under hard-wood (hickory) floor throughout the house. Insulation by shredded blue jean. Whole house water filter. Power mostly by solar energy. Paint and stain are eco-friendly. No particle boards were used. Front yard has mature liquid ambers and curvy Korean grass. Koi fish are about 20 years old. Small water fall runs 24/7. Large water fall runs from about 8:30 am to 11:00 am.
