“Great Sushi In Culver City.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2013

K-zo is one of my favorite sushi spots in LA. The staff including the owners wife Yuki greet you at the door with a smile. The restaurant has a great atmosphere. I usually sit at the sushi bar in front of Riki one of the sushi chefs. I recommend just letting him serve you what's fresh but he is always more than happy to serve you any of your favorites. I often go there at least once a week and am never disappointed.

“Love this Restaurant!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 December 2012

I really love K-ZO in Culver City. We like to eat at the bar area and watch tv, there are usually Japanese silent movies on. The bartender is really nice, my husband enjoys talking to him. We always get popcorn shrimp for our boys (ages 10-15). They also like the Teriyaki Chicken and California Rolls. They also like the "Ramune" soda they have. It has a little ball in it which I am not sure why...but the kids love it. We always try something new each time we come here. They usually have special rolls or small plates. I love the oysters on the half shell with a glass of sparkling wine. My husband like the spicy albacore. Their sashimi is excellent. I have never had a bad experience with any dish I have ordered there. You will love this restaurant!

“Forget Nobu, go to K-zo! :)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2012

A gem at the center of downtown Culver City, K-zo is still currently my favorite sushi joint in LA. The reasons?

First of all, great food. The sushi is extremely fresh and the toro grade tuna nigiri is amazing. On top of that, they have some exceptional appetizers (try their "octopus carpaccio!") and, if you like tempure, their's is exceptional. Finally, they have a wonderful omakase service at the bar, where you can interact with the sushi chef and also ask for stuff you like. Some other omakase places can remind you of the "soup nazi" from Seinfeld - K-zo is both authentic and amazingly friendly.

Second, the service is great and attentive.

Third, the prices are quite reasonable!

So try it :)

“Good, but not worth the price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2012

K-Zo serves high quality, mostly traditional Japanese sushi. The atmosphere and service are just ok, not great, and the prices are quite high. If someone else is paying, I'd be more than happy to go again. But if I'm paying, I'd go to any number of other places, such as Sushi Sushi or Echigo.

“nigirizushi was much better than the fusion dishes”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2012

All of the rave reviews for the Spicy Tuna Crispy make me wonder what the big deal is about, and the K-ZO Tako Carpaccio that evening had too many flavors going on and was way too salty. The Ankimo and Hotate Dynamite small plates were both good, but nothing special.
On the other hand, the unusual offerings of nodoguro and engawa nigirizushi that night were excellent and reminded me of Sushi of Gari in NYC, where subtle seasonings and garnishes are creatively used to bring out the "umami" of the fish. The maguro, kinmedai, and katsuo tataki nigirizushi all did not disappoint.
I should have just gone for the nigiri sushi for which K-ZO is known for, and skipped all of the small plates and fusion dishes!
To finish, the beni imo dessert parfait is not to be missed and is a work of art in both presentation and taste.
