“A real let down”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 November 2013

My husband and I booked this hotel for a stop over in California for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon in July. It looked so luxurious and grand. However, we were very disappointed for the following reasons:
- We had the worst 'upgrade' which was a room on the 1st floor, at the back, in the corner, with a view of a big plant outside
- We were gifted with warm white wine in our room as a welcome gift
- Parking is not cheap
- The daily resort fee is extortionate for what you actually get
- The pool was not inviting at all

Overall a real downer to the start of our honeymoon.

I really enjoyed my stay at the St. Regis, Monarch Beach Resort. The scenary is so beautiful it's almost magical. Amazing sunsets over looking a rolling hills golf course then ending with ocean views as far as the eye can see. Whether you are dressed up in a ballgown to go to a banquet or dressed in shorts and flip flops to go relax by the pool, you never feel out of place here. The staff's service was above my expectations. My daughter and I went to the Motif restaurant and she told the waitress her favorite foods were goldfish cracker's, cookies and apples. The next day, after enjoying a day at the beach, we were surpirsed to find goldfish crackers, cookies and apples waiting for her in the room. That just made her feel so special. The beds were so comfortable it was hard to get up in the morning. I was sad when my 3 days were over. I would have loved to have at least a couple weeks to stay and relax. I will definetly be back!!!

I stayed here with my children and my parents stayed here as well for my brother's wedding. While our request for adjoining rooms could not be accommodated, the rooms and ocean view were gorgeous. The staff were impeccably dressed and available for all your needs. The private beach had a restaurant right there. Someone set up our chairs and towels for us. My children enjoyed the little touches like chocolates with the turn down service. Room service food arrived hot and delicious. One down side was the concierge arranging our car service. The car was late at the airport when we arrived and came at 7:30 am instead of 7:30 pm. Very disappointing for a five star hotel. Jacuzzi was large and open 24 hours along with the pool. Would definitely go back again.

I had the good fortune to be sent to this property for a business meeting. Now I'm trying to find a way back for a personal vacation. The scenery is breath-taking from nearly all aspects of the property as it is nestled in the rolling hillside of Dana Point, California. The beach is a perfect backdrop and I enjoyed walking each day from the hotel to the ocean.

The rooms were very nice; the service was impeccable; and the amenities (golf, spa, restaurants) were all very nice. Additionally, we were able to sneak into Dana Point for a dolphin-watching trip and were able to see just how nice this community is as well. There was plenty to do for couples with or without kids.

This is a must-see place to stay and vacation.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on any floor3 or h igher and definitely take advantage of the evening turn down servi...

We just had a company conference there last month. Half of us were from Southern California and our sister company attendees were from Tennessee. Everyone loved this hotel, granted we were stuck in a meeting room for much of the time, but food, ambiance and location is great. The people from Tennessee especially loved the proximity to the ocean and the views. And lets face it, even us residents of Southern California don't get to the beach as often as we like. Rooms were spacious and clean. From what I hear, we got a great group rate at the hotel.

I had a very good experience at the hotel this last weekend. The property is gorgeous and incredibly well maintained. My room was clean, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom amenities were quite nice. I was here for a convention and the food very good. Two issues keep me from an excellent rating, to get to the beach you need to take a tram and the drinks are very expensive!

We needed a reconnecting weekend away from the weekend routine and this place was perfect. The rooms are great, great beds, lovely location with a path to a spectacular beach. There is a great lobby lounge and everywhere, areas that can be enjoyed to relax, have a drink and enjoy this resort. We loved it. The staff was impeccable and non-invasive in service every place we were!
