“No longer there!”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

The Renaissance was a locals place with good food and live entertainment. It was here for years. Now that it has changed hands, Stillwater's has lost us as a customer.

“What happened to this good restaurant?”
Reviewed 25 May 2012

THINGS HAVE CHANGED! This restaurant is now called STILL WATER. The new management is focusing on renovating the decor (Closed Mondays and Tuesdays). I recommend waiting until the remodel is complete. My party of two had the most un-trained waiter on the West Coast. He was pleasant but had no training in how to serve a table and couldn't even tell us if Bloody Mary's were on the happy hour special pricing? We suggested that he ask the bartender, since she mixes drinks all day. He thought he'd rather ask the owner...so he went looking for "the owner" to ask him and left us sitting for 8 minutes. He finally took our food order. Another helper brought our food to us and noticed we had no napkins or utensils to eat with---so that helper had to go get us our set-ups. The waiter had 15 minutes to get us set-ups but it never occurred to him. Getting our bill (corrected) was a major endeavor, as well. Here's something I worry about. The "new" STILL WATER was still serving the old Renaissance menu, and we began with the incredible appetizer: Brie Dip in a bread bowl with fruits and veggies. The manager/partner said they were only temporarily continuing the Renaissance menu and they would be bringing in their new cuisine. I will miss that bowl of Brie if it goes away. For their Happy Hour menu, they offered soup and 1/2 sandwich OR 2 tacos with soup for $5.00. That's a good deal. The tomato bisque soup was more like a golden carrot/squash soup---just couldn't eat it...but the 1/2 sandwich and 2 tacos were delicious. So, just give the place time to shape-up and let the new waitstaff learn on someone besides you.

“Food was average but experience was above average”
Reviewed 3 March 2012

I went with my friends to Sunday Brunch. We are in our 50's and found that was most of the demographic there. We really enjoyed ourself at this restaurant. We sat out on the patio. Tables are spread enough apart that you an carry on a conversation. Nothing fancy but decent. An outdoor fireplace was there. There was a female singer singing music I would compare to Bonnie Raitt. The service was very fast, friendly and attentive. I am surprised to read other reviews about poor service. The food was average - nothing to write home about but decent. We stayed for at least two hours drinking champagne and never felt like they were trying to rush us out. If you want a nice, relaxed Sunday morning go here.
