“Very Good, with "comments". Weak management.”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

Having waited 6+ years to return to Chart House in Dana Point it was time for a reset. Host/ess stand experience was like before. Disjointed. 3 different staffers asked name, then although there early for reservation, was told to wait over here until the manager greeted next guest in line. The manager was disinterested and joked about the multiple greetings at the door. He was not professional in the least. Once seated our server (Casey?) was wonderful. Smooth, unobtrusive, knew his stuff. A real pleasure. The food, as usual, did not bowl us over, but it was tasty. Two had prime rib, I had salmon. A side of mushrooms finished the dinner. Started w/crab/shrimp/mango appetizer that was delicious. My biggest concern w/this place is management. Ohn yes, bar was without Grey Goose AND martini glasses. A missed opportunity to upswell. At table, still no Grey Goose available. Again, this place has a management problem. Felt bad for the friendly, capable bartender who had to make excuses. Overall....a B or B-

“Terrible one of the worse experiences ever”
Reviewed 14 May 2014 via mobile

First the good news. The view is magnificent. We had made a reservation and were seated on time. We had 9 people and were anxious to have some great food, service and wine. It took the waiter 15 minutes to even acknowledge us. We ordered drinks and they came 45 minutes later. We had to go to the bar to get another bottle of wine. Appetizers took an hour so we went to the salad bar first. Our plates were not cleared. The food was average at best. The manager came over and said the waiter was slammed and he was sorry. They gave us the molten chocolate cake on the house which was excellent. Everyone in our party was so disappointed and we are all sales people so we are easy to please. The waiter simply did not care. Our bill was $900 and His 18 percent was included so maybe he did not feel he needed to actually wait on us. Terrible, terrible, terrible. If you go eat somewhere else and order the chocolate cake and enjoy the view.

“The quality of the food only equalled by the view quality!”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

I have visited many Chart Houses over the years, from Nashua NH to Lake Tahoe, now to Dana Point. The best dinner in a Chart House by far, but pricey. While worth it with great service too, it would remain for special occasions.

“Best Dana Point Resturaunt with Romantic Views”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

My wife and I love the Chart House in Dana Point overlooking the harbor. We live at the beach, but a great view never gets old like us. We enjoyed the Sea Bass and scallops as an appetizer with a bottle of wine. Service was quick, attentive and the restaurant is quiet and relaxing. The view is simply awesome as the restaurant sits high above the harbor. When its a little warmer (unless you're from a colder climate,) they offer heaters and tables outside too.
