This is a diner that is busy for breakfast and lunch with some outdoor seating in the center of a shopping and restaurant area. It was clear that many customers were locals. I was a local years ago. We had breakfast and lunch on the same day. The fare is less expensive than some of is nearby competitors but, one needs to stick with old reliable menu items. As an example, my wife had huevos rancheros. The tortilla was smeared with a thick layer of refried beans, a fried egg and topped with a thick layer of chunky salsa drowning out the taste of the egg and flavor of the tortilla. One would suspect that it was prepared to give the appearance of an abundance of food. I had bagel with smoked salmon and condiments. The bagel was (I should remind myself to be careful when ordering a bagel in California) pretty tasteless and contained a thin slice of cream cheese. The salmon looked as if it was the last of the package with small pieces stuck together. For lunch I had a tuna salad on rye. Both the salad and bread were dry without much flavor. The service was pretty average. In retrospect, next time I would go across the street to the Brig and pay the extra $$ or to the Harbor House on Coast Highway.
