Stayed here for 7 nights on Honeymoon in an ocean view room on club floor. Fantastic service , views and location. 162 restuarant has wonderful food. Stay on the club floor if budget allows.

We are big Ritz fans, know what to expect and were very pleased with this hotel.

We had a Suite on the Club Floor. Sadly ,we were not overlooking the ocean, but the suite was an excellent size and in good decorative order. Yes, the bathrooms don't have separate showers but the main bathroom with dressing area was very large, so I didn't mind this a bit! The dressing area was so roomy that it had a full dressing table, so I was able to spread all my stuff around (I'm sure other hotel travellers will agree that many hotel bathrooms simply don't have enough space by the basins for all the toiletries and cosmetics. Here I had space and drawers to spare) - it felt very luxurious! Plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space too.

The staff and service on the Club Floor were - in my opinion - up with the best of the Ritz Club Floors and the food offerings were very good. Sadly, there were a few unpleasant, discourteous guests on the Club Floor - treating staff rudely and loudly, impolite kids - but most guests were fine.

The main pool is very good and has lots of loungers and space - I cannot ever imagine it being full.

The only shortcoming would be the main restaurant - it has an unappealing position which other reviewers have mentioned. But there are so many restaurants in the vicinity that you don't need to bother - go elsewhere! I would recommend Mozambique for a change (Southern African food and exotic decor) and the Studio at the Montage was excellent.

We will definitely return!

Spent three nights at this wonderful place. The setting on top of a cliff is really stunning and the views over the beach and sea are breathtaking. While the entrance area of the hotel is really pretty I found the rooms to be rather dull.

Our room was facing an inner courtyard and was basically looking into some trees. The room was very comfortable but I just found it a bit dull. It is obvious that it's an older property that has been renovated. I really disliked the bathtub with a shower curtain; so old-fashioned.

The gym with a 180° view over the beach and sea is amazing. The most beautiful hotel gym ever seen and the equipment is excellent. I didn't try the spa but it looked great too.

The pretty beach was easy walking distance down the hill or you can take a shuttle that runs constantly.

The two pool areas, of which one is a quiet area, were pleasant enough but nothing special.

The best thing about this place is the amazing food we had for dinner in the 162' restaurant. We ended up eating there three nights in a row because we loved the food and all dishes were equally good. We got totally spoiled by the chef and Jennifer, our waitress, did an amazing job too. It is such a pity that this brilliant food is served in such horrible surroundings. The restaurant is as charming as an airport cafeteria; you are seated in rather busy corridor lit by neon tubes. During the day, the view is beautiful but at night it is pitch-dark.

The overall hotel experience was above average but the place didn't wow me. However, I certainly wouldn't mind going back.

The Ritz Carlton Dana Niguel is a beautiful property. We had a club level room that was a little on the small side, but very plush. The food was wonderful and they were very kid friendly. The pools were nice and my kids loved the beach. It is a public beach, but the Ritz staff sets up your chairs and umbrella. They also have boogie boards for guests to use. The service at the hotel was wonderful.

A rough gem,

This Ritz Carlton has a beautiful location and it's staff is well trained and pays attention to detail.

However, the air conditioner in our room sounded like a freight train and is located right next to your bed. Is was so loud , we could even hear the one in the room below ours.
The management should try and spend the night in room 4546 and see if they can get some sleep.

Then, the Jacuzzis,
The first one we tried next to the big pool was broken, the the jets not operating. Small children running in and out of the pool with no parent or staff supervision.

The second one, located near unkepted bushes and trees was covered with leaves, branches and some sort of cherry like berry.
No pool that any one would what to get in to. So we didn't and no one else was in it either.

But the worse,

This 5 star hotel has no fine dining restaurant!

The Ritz's best restaurant shares it space with the hotels main passage way. Guests in wet beachwear, carrying luggage, surf boards. Kids in strollers, bell staff with large carts all sharing the same area with this restaurant. Surf city, am I in Huntington Beach..

Needles to say we ate at a nice restaurant off this property,

So... loud air conditioning, no Jacuzzis, and no fine dining at a 5 star hotel.

Sorry, this does not add up to 5. This will be our third and last visit. Management, lets see your attention to detail, your staff does.

Too many nice hotel, like the Monarch near by, your value is location and staff only.
