Owner description: Celebrating 45 years of family owned winemaking! Burgess Cellars has been family owned and creating wines with mountain distinction since 1972 on Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. When founder Tom Burgess purchased the 1870’s era winery in 1972 he established himself as a pioneer of mountain side wineries. At the time, there were only approximately 2 dozen wineries in operation in the whole of Napa Valley Today, the second generation is building on Tom’s legacy 2013, with winemaker Kelly Woods, a UC Davis graduate. The new direction of the estate is taking Burgess Cellars to the pinnacle of Napa Valley wine quality. A visit to Burgess Cellars begins with a panoramic vista that offers real perspective on the Napa Valley. One can see the length of the Mayacamas range, from Calistoga to the hills beyond Napa. We present our wines in our cellar, where you are surrounded by barrels.

Had a terrific tasting at Burgess. Was lucky to have been recommended by a DC sommelier to this small family owned winery Would recommend their wines to anyone interested in Cabernet Sauvignon. If I recall it's by appointment only but we were able to get squeezed in with another couple. The place is simple and nice up on Howell Mountain. Had a very nice tasting and purchased some bottles.

We went to Burgess with friends. Despite the effect the drought has on the land this is some amazing property! I really recommend to stop here. I believe this vineyard is by appointment only. It was a very nice tasting. The tasting room is simple, but nice. We really enjoyed the wines we sampled. I felt that the tasting was very generous. Don't skip this one if you have a small group and can get here!

Burgess Cellars at 1108 Deer Park Road in the Napa valley has the most incredible cabernet sauvignon coming from fantastic vineyards. Small, creative and deeply connected to the whole historic Napa experience, Tom Burgess and now his son Steve operate a great winery.
