“God's Healing Waters”
Reviewed 21 June 2013

I just returned from 3 days of the best water on the planet in a grotto of palm trees designed by the master builder. It is the best retreat with a world class spa and fresh beautiful food. I would recommend it highly. The rooms are lovely and the prices for the Summer or at the lowest for a short while. If you think it is too hot you are wrong it is perfect and dry. I am ready to go back.

Room Tip: Get a room in the Casablanca or the Grotto area.

I have been going to Two Bunch for more than 15 years. To me it is the happiest place in the USA, sorry still love Maui better. When you arrive you know you are somewhere special. Talking above a wispher is not allowed niether are kids or cell phones. You can use your phone in your room. But the real find is the Grotto. Here you float in 98 degree mineral water coming up from the earth. Pure heaven. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Stay up near the Grotto. Older rooms but worth not having to walk far to get in the water.

I LOVE Two Bunch. I've been several times and it is consistently great and the prices are very reasonable for what you get, especially when they run one of their specials. My most recent trip here was so great and the staff was so sweet that I am compelled to write a review. On our way to the resort, Waze GPS'd us down a weird backcountry road and we got stuck in deep sand. Desert problems. We had to call AAA and wait for a tow in 106 degree heat. We called the resort and they immediately sent over a big dog from 2 Bunch in his Mercedes SUV who sprung us from the scene with a couple of bottles of water in hand. They checked us in, parked us by the pool, sent us a complimentary bottle of wine and then the front desk woman let us BORROW HER PERSONAL CAR to go back to the breakdown site and meet the tow truck when they eventually arrived. Over the top.

Once we were settled, we loved the peacefulness of the grounds and just hanging out in the pool and the grotto atop a few noodles. The complimentary giant cookies in the main office were the bane of my existence.

If you go, you *must* buy a couple of bags of animal treats from the front desk and head over to the lake, which is just a few minutes down the path. As you approach from afar, it looks like a regular pond with a few birds, but brace yourself for the onslaught. Tons of ducks waddle over and then every turtle in the lake creeps out and zombie-walks towards your feet, and then all the fish swarm at the waters edge and go insane. It's a little scary and a lot amazing. It'll be the best dollar you've ever spent.

If I were to give one criticism, it would be that the food is so-so for the prices. It's just... okay. That said, the resto has a lovely view and I do appreciate that it's there (Desert Hot Springs is not exactly a culinary capital.) I like that it's fancy and yet they let --- nay, encourage -- anyone to come dine in their robe. Because Two Bunch is thaaat mellow.

Apparently they are preparing for a big overhaul to update the resort. I like that it's old school at the moment but some renovations could be amazing, especially if they build on the old Hollywood glamour angle. The real magic is in the ambiance at 2 Bunch --- if they hang onto that, it seems like this place is only going to get better. Just please don't raise the prices too much..... :)

Room Tip: For a huge newer room, go with the double king size beds down by the fountain area. For proximity...

We just returned from a weekend at Two Bunch and it really could have been so much better if the management had better customer service. The check in girl was rude and the room was outdated. The smoke detector was beeping so we called to have maintenance fix it and no one ever came. We finally disconnected it. After many years of coming to this resort, I can safely say we will not be back when there are so many great places to choose from in the area that actually seem to care about their customers.

This is the second time I have reviewed this property, and I have been staying here at least yearly for the last 25 years. The new ownership is in place, and so far, so good. It appears that there is an attempt to keep what was good in the past, even down to how the office and the spa are laid out. Rumor has it that there will be more rooms built and that the spa will be redone. Personally, I don't think that this is a good choice, as people don't come to Two Bunch for a modern, large concept. They can go to many other places in Palm Springs for that. It needs to stay small, quiet, and relaxed. The food is better now, the rooms are in better shape.

There are still some spotty areas of concern-- a high corkage fee, strange pricing changes on rooms (raising rates and offering discounts simultaneously). And most sadly, there is no more Preferred Guest status. That is a huge mistake. This is a property that exists based on loyal customers and nostalgia. They will foolishly drive many people away...

Room Tip: Love the lakeside rooms -- Casa Blaca, etc.

Stayed here twice for our anniversary. Tranquil pools, lush grounds with historic stone bungalows, lake, fountains, desert flora & huge swaying trees makes this a dreamy getaway. The Al Capone room was charming & Suite #18 was more contemporary & comfortable. Super nice staff. Oh, and love the little desert bunnies that peek out of the bushes in the cool of the evening.

We checked out of another place that we had already paid for and into Two Bunch and never looked back. The room was fabulous, the grounds beautiful, staff great, and the hot springs were just hot enough. It is now my
go-to get away retreat. As they say we were "two bunched" into relaxation.

Room Tip: Any room will be great but try to stay near the grotto pool, you won't be sorry.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Marking 75 years in 2015, Two Bunch Palms has much to celebrate. Last year's incredible renovation of the 270-acre property resulted in 70 'soulful' new room accommodations, a farm-to-table restaurant Essense, passive solar earth mound yoga dome and a new View Point conference center and meeting facility with views of the valley against the San Jacinto Mountains. This physical transformation, including the addition of a 3.5-Acre solar field, puts Two Bunch Palms on the destination spa map as the first "Sustainable Wellness Resort" in North America and the first carbon-neutral resort. A legacy that spans several generations of guests-from notorious gangsters to Hollywood elite to romantic spa seekers-the property and its newest incarnation brings a rich and storied history full circle. This adult-only sanctuary (guests must be 18 or older) invites you to explore the four pillars of the resort: waters, spa, movement and cuisine. Their renowned, natural lithium-infused spring grotto features two mineral water pools carefully kept at a consistent temperature to ensure therapeutic and mood-enhancing properties. Guests are encouraged to "take to the 600-year old waters" and connect body with spirit before enjoying the spa well-known for its intuitive healers and authentic treatments. The new Essense restaurant features healthier gourmet dining prepared by a Le-Cordon Bleu trained chef with the help of a PHD nutritionist. With a nourished body, guests may partake in more than 35 wellness activities, such as meditation, art classes, tai chi, qigong and yoga in the beautiful new dome. ... more   less
