Only positive was Nadine at front desk @ DHS. Stayed 12/26 -12/28/13. Scheduled a massage for me and my mom. Therapist was 15 minutes for my mom's massage and then shorted her the time. Nadine 'comped' that one for me. When my massage came around, again 15 minutes late, I talked to front desk manager at Miracle Springs (sister resort next door - since that is where all the management prefers to spend their time). The front desk manager @ Miracle Springs blamed it on the therapist and refused to take responsibility or compensate me, other than another massage. I explained it was too late in evening, I was leaving in morning and never to return. He walked away! Horrible customer service.
Pools: Need maintenance, no jets, dogs barking (they allow dogs and will not address barking), grown man swimming in his Hanes underwear (I kid you not!). High class place:(
Restaurant: Waited a good 25 minutes for our mediocre food. They only have about 5 tables on patio and restaurant was full (did I mention the mediocre food?) so we sat in the bar area listening to Helen Ready songs and commenting on the ripped vinyl booths and lack of lighting (looking back, the lack of lighting may have been a blessing). I was at this spa in 1984 and I think they still play the same 8 Track.
Spa: See above regarding massages. No music to drown out the noise from the pool. They cater to day use customers and the locals that sneak through the gates at night and rough house in the pool at ungodly hours.
Room & Decor: Peeling pain in bathroom, cabinets look like they cut and painted plywood and hinged them on the cabinets. Ants! Brown stuff (???) on drapes and upholstered chairs. They were filthy. Shower enclosure material (fake marble) looks like someone finger-painted with same brown stuff on drapes. The front desk manager @ Miracle Springs said the rooms were updated. Maybe the update happened pre-1984?
Security: Metal security gates were always left open (especially at night)
Again, only positive was Nadine. She tried her best to salvage our trip and tried to make it as pleasant as possible. Thank you Nadine!
