“Desert Hot Springs oasis”
Reviewed 10 February 2012

I recently spent a long weekend at Sagewater Spa with three friends. Nothing beats this place for instant relaxation. The hosts are so welcoming - you feel instantly at home here whether it is your first or fourth visit. Besides soaking in the pool and relaxing there are lots of outdoor and indoor activities available but you wont want to leave! The views from the comfortable uncluttered rooms at dawn and dusk are breathtaking. If you go for the fusion massage (we all four did) you won't be disappointed. I vow to go back more often - I only wish it was closer to home.

Room Tip: There is not a bad room in the place but the corner room has been my favorite so far.

Sagewater Spa is one of my favorite places to relax and get away from the pressures of the world. The mineral pool is amazing and you never want to get out. The owners Rhoni and Cristina and their adorable dog Sage are the best hosts one could ask for, warm, welcoming, fun and cool. The rooms are perfect in their simplicity and comfort. Kitchenettes for nibbles and a huge outdoor gas grill for cooking if one does not feel like driving over the highway to Palm Springs for dinner. I love this place! My last visit we met a bunch of amazing people that we will hopefully bump into again there or somewhere else. I highly recommend a visit and to getting to know Sagewater Spa.

What a cool review! Yes, our guests are special! Last weekend, several of our guests decided to cancel their in town reservations and a spontaneous BBQ, wine tasting and a late night soak quietly prevailed. For guests that prefer their privacy , Sagewater Spa offers peace and quiet with
private kitchens and the most spectacular views of Mt. San Jacinto. Thanks again we loved having you here and hope to see you again soon!

There's a reason why you can't find a negative review of Sagewater--it's that good. The spa is designed to empty out your head;you can actually feel yourself calming down as you soak in the best mineral water in the desert. I've been to quite a few spas in Desert Hot Springs. There are certainly other nice spas, but Sagewater gets everything right: from the minimalist decor, to the Aveda bath products, to the brand new BBQ--just go there and meet the nicest guests and owners possible. Sagewater really is the best of the desert.

Those were the wise words of advice from our totally fabulous hosts. Boy did we soak!

We want to thank Ronnie and Chris for setting such a relaxing tone and atmosphere. Our fellow guests helped make our visit with interesting conversation but plenty of space for privacy. The simple understated style with high quality linens assisted in setting the mood. From my 'order' to soak, the best lemoncello ever, beautiful desert walks, the ever present Sage, and great impromptu dinners ..we couldn't have written a better script for the weekend. Even if we did Lisa could have helped with the editing!!
Thanks to all and see you again!Drew and Mel

I chose Sagewater Spa for a mother/daughter Xmas/birthday getaway after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. It couldn't have been a better choice. From the lovely communication I had with Cristina when making reservations, the wonderfully warm greeting we got from Rhoni upon arrival, the delightful room and well stocked kitchen, thru the low key relaxing soaks and massages we experienced, the friendly conversations with fellow guests, and the great and restful sleep we had in our comfy bed, how could I want for more. Doggie pal, Sage, was simply a wonderful plus along with a divine cinnamon coffee cake baked by Rhoni (couldn't resist buying a bunch more to take home as gifts to lucky friends)! Great hiking in Joshua Tree and a lovely walk through the Morongo Preserve. All perfection.

Room Tip: We had the great corner room facing the sunset but all rooms are lovely.

My husband and I wanted to hike in Joshua Tree National Park and splurge on a hot-springs resort. What a treat -- Sagewater is a small, intimate, relaxed place, with lots of retro mid-century charm but not glitzy or gaudy. It feels like a discovery up in the hills above small-town Desert Hot Springs. It has been renovated very simply but beautifully, lots of comfortable, elegant touches. We were glad to have a full kitchenette and cookware, as we preferred to cook in (or you can grill on the patio overlooking the valley). The star attraction is the water: it's silky-soft, buoyant, and continuously bubbling from the source, so it's not chlorinated. There's a delicious hot pool and a cooler (but still warm) swim pool that's large enough to paddle around a bit. The proprietors are lovely and really make you feel at home and special; we mentioned that we wanted to get away from light and look at the stars, and they turned off all the lights so we could star-gaze while soaking in darkness. Bliss! It was a splurge for us but comparing the rates to Palm Springs, it was relatively reasonable. And worth it! We will be back.

We are so happy that you found your desert home! Yes, the clear star filled desert night sky is magnificent. Seeing the bright stars in the night sky is part of the desert experience and reminds us about how important it is to return to nature. Whether it's swimming, golfing, soaking, reading, receiving spa treatments, sleeping, shopping or hiking the desert areas have so much to offer.

The most relaxing place to stay in the desert. A perfect getaway. Peaceful, quiet and relaxing. Christina and Rhoni are amazing hosts, there when you need them, and super chill and to themselves when you want to be quiet. I've visited several times, and have also tried other places in the desert. None compare. It's just mellow and lovely. The best hot loaf of deliciousness greets you when you arrive, a family recipe, and the waters are perfect. I could live in them.
