What a remarkable, one of a kind spa and wellness retreat! Everytime I visit I fall in love all over again with Sagewater. Desert nights are delightfully quiet with great stargazing, swaying palms and beautiful warm breezes. You are in your own private oasis of calm and serenity. After just a little soaking in the mineral pools, your body feels so incredibly relaxed and rejuvenated. Their spa therapists/treatments are also fantastic. We can't wait to plan our next visit. Thanks again, Cristina and Rhoni - what you have achieved with Sagewater is true magic!

Room Tip: Great Views In All Rooms!

The highlight of the experience was definitely the two pools-natural hot springs pool and one that was cooled but still warm. The rooms were clean with 50s style architecture and basic furnishings. The mattress on the bed was so hard that I could not sleep all night. The place is in the middle of the desert with a few run down homes across the street. It is completely fenced in and the front gate has a lock-it does provide a sense of security but didn't give me a great vibe when we got there. The parking lot is right off the street and is not fenced in. My husband is fond of his car and he was not particularly comfortable leaving it there overnight. That being said, nothing happened to it. I understand that they can't do much about the fact that Desert Hot Springs is a crummy town. On the other hand it is a short drive to Palm Springs and all its attractions and restaurants. It is also a place of relaxation and most times it was quiet but ironically our neighbors were talking loudly and kept us up. Again, probably not something that can completely be controlled by management but sometimes a little courtesy can go a long way. The in room massage was very good. Overall, we had a nice time but were surprised by what we found based on the
previous reviews. When we splurge on our vacations, we expect a little more luxury than what we found. The owner did go out of her way to welcome guests and make it a good experience; that was greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your review and we are so happy that you could appreciate the benefits of our mineral \water pool and spa. We would love our guests to communicate their needs since we have lots of comfy bedding and would have loved the opportunity to make you feel more comfortable. Desert Hot Springs is a quiet litte town with a couple of really great ethnic restaurants and good supermarkets which makes it convient to cook-in or go out. We are perfectly located between
Palm Springs and Joshua Tree so our guests are just 20 minutes from city life and 25 minutes to country life. Guests are always happy to return "home" to the mineral water pool!

My girlfriend and I enjoyed a weekend here while planning hikes and day trips into Joshua Tree. We loved the design and comfort of our room and the common area, and wished we could have stayed for a week! The pools truly are amazing, and no one could escape being rejuvenated by the desert and the hot springs. But most of all Rhoni and Christina are the absolute best hosts imaginable. They welcomed us warmly and assisted us with our trip but were never intrusive, its like they read our mind of when we needed something and when we just wanted to relax and do our own thing. It's not just a great place to stay when in the area, I will seek out a return as a destination.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Sagewater Spa. Our plans were to take a few days to hike and photograph Joshua Tree. After a day in the desert it was very refreshing to come back to the Sagewater. Cristina and Rhonie were excellent hosts and took care of our every need. The rooms were very relaxing and clean. The hotsprings pool and hot tub were fantastic! I highly recommend the Sagewater Spa! Thanks Cristina and Rhoni.

We had such a lovely weekend at Sagewater. Rhonie and Cristina are so welcoming and immediately provide a friendly and comfortable environment in which to relax and restore. The rooms are clean and inviting at the same time. Our room had a lovely view of the San Jacinto range and the windmills in the distance. I will return to this view and to the feeling of the water on my skin during stressful times. The design of the place, the feel of the sun, and the restorative quality of the water make this place a very special retreat. The history of Desert Hot Springs also makes for an interesting backdrop in which to get away from it all. But I think the warmth of Rhonie and Cristina is what makes this place as special as it is. We miss it already and will be back for another visit!

Room Tip: Room 7 has a beautiful view of the mountains.

This little spa is situated up on a hill overlooking the working class town of Desert Hot Springs and is perfect for couples who want to relax in a very private setting. The pool and hot tub were spectacular after we spent our days walking around the summit of Mount San Jacinto and Joshua Tree Park. The rooms are minimalist in style and are clean, comfortable and reminiscent of what I imagine the Palm Springs area looked like in the 1950s. The option to cook a meal in the kitchen or out on the deck where a communal gas grill is available to guests was a welcome change from eating out every night.

The special part of this hotel are its two owners. They are wonderful and attentive hosts who gave us coffee cake in our room and delicious drinks while we sat pool side - all complimentary. We met and befriended other guests and came to the realization that "birds of a feather" really do flock here - perhaps the desire to get away from kitschy Palm Springs for an alternative resort is part of its allure.

I cannot give the place 5 stars because it simply cannot offer the same amenities that one can find in a major hotel, but that being said, my girlfriend cited this place as one of the highlights of our trip to Southern California where we stayed at resorts twice the price...

Pick this place as your home away from home outside the throng of tourist traps in Palm Springs.

" my girlfriend cited this place as one of the highlights of our trip to Southern California where we stayed at resorts twice the price..."

I can see that you are discerning hotels travelers and as hotel aficionados I do not see how Sagewater Spa can be compared to a large hotel. With seven rooms we offer a different type of service which is personal to every guest. Our peaceful surroundings and the best mineral water in the county provide deep relaxation away from the crowds. Thank you taking your time to scribe your thoughtful and complimentary review and we look forward to having our NEW "birds of a feather flocking together" again soon!
