“...Our favorite place during 3 weeks CA...”
Reviewed 24 April 2013

At least we stayed in 10 Hotels during our trip to CA - but El Morocco Inn Spa was the most wonderful place we had. All our memories are there.

And the reason it not because it is a very top location around or whatever - they only reason - you are warmly welcome from the first beginning - everything works - all areas and rooms are well designed...

We stayed at Sultan Playpen on the 2. floor. The room was not to big - but big enough, very individual. The bath is a kind of different, but even very ok.

The pool areas so lovely. You can use it 24 hours, all the chairs and little lounges are so cozy, it is never crowded and you can wonderful relax.

Of course, this place is not cheap - but every cent you spend - is a really good decision.

We did not expect to find something this charming in Desert Hot Springs of all places. From the outside, it looks like a typical 1950 era motel, but the owner has done a fantastic job of converting the place into a desert oasis. It was a delicate balance, not over done like in a typical Vegas hotel, or under done as someone trying to relive their memories of their Moroccan vacation. The pool was adequate, and the large jacuzzi filled with water from the desert hot springs was a nice way to relax before retiring for the night. The rooms themselves were small but comfortable, nicely done in a Moroccan theme. This is not a five star resort, but it has enough charm to welcome any weary traveler, especially those who just spent the day discovering Joshua Tree or the surrounding desert. They even have massage service that you can order. This is, of course, extra.

I came here back in 2008 and ever since I knew I wanted to return. The staff is super nice and accommodating and the grounds are pretty amazing. It is a great quiet and relaxing get away. We stayed in room 204 "French Morocco." I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the room especially at the price per night. I would say my two small issues were that the windows did not open so there was no way to allow fresh air into the bedroom and that the pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. Better pillows would definitely be recommended!

But at this B&B the quality is outside the room in the beautiful courtyard, pool and garden. It is a truly unique and relaxing experience but could use a mini renovation.

Room Tip: I would stay away from the 2nd floor rooms.

Hi HollerDoktor, thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at El Morocco Inn & Spa! To address your concern about the French Morocco room, with the 2nd floor being our newest addition, we are still considering adding interesting items from Morocco as they arrive. For instance, your comment got us thinking that a Moroccan lantern would look beautiful hanging over the table and chairs in that room!

In regard to your feedback about the windows, we have installed them to be the same size as the door. You can get a cross breeze in the French Morocco room by opening the bathroom window and leaving your door open (you’ll still have plenty of privacy).

We will double-check our pillows, since we always put 2 feather and 2 fiberfill in each guest bedroom. We put some pillows on the closet shelf next to the iron, flashlight and laptop pillow/desk so you can choose which pillows work best for you.

We are glad to hear you loved the overall ambiance of the spa garden. As always, thank you for your helpful feedback. We hope you come back soon to stay with us again!

Peaceful little inn, beautifully decorated. Loved the cozy TV room and the smell of Moroccan oils around the property. The bed offered a superb nights sleep. Highly recommend staying longer than one night to take in all that El Morocco has to offer.

We stayed for a night. Actually this is something for more than a day in order to enjoy relaxing at the pool. The staff is overwhelming friendly but balances not to go on your nerves. Great job!! Breakfast is very nice. They do not allow minor in the Inn which makes the pool area - the central location of the inn - very relaxing and quiet. Complimentary drinks and snacks around feel you being pampered. Be aware of the happy hour - the refills are happening at an astonishing rate. Our only drawback was the bed - we book a Queen size bed which we have at home. Since the mattress was soft my wife was rolling towards me (physics takes its toll). Overall: an enjoyable experience!

Room Tip: We went for the French Maroccon room. It is slightly cheaper than the others ($20). I'd add the...

After review on trip adviser chose this B&B for a few day retreat. El Morocco is hidden in a residential area so do not be surprised. This is an advantage as it is very quiet. The Jacuzzi pool is the best. We were in one of the Sultan rooms, in the back and on the second floor. The shower is very small, European size, the round bed is very low on the floor, and wifi reception in that area is poor. Went to the lounge area for better wifi. One nice thing about the second floor rooms is the view down the valley. There is also a very impressive DVD collection for guests to use, but not a decent TV to watch.

Suggestions to owners to make the rooms perfect: put in flat screen television, increase room rates if needed. Ad some extra towel racks in the bathrooms to hang pool towels and wet suits. Add an ottoman or two in front of the sofas.

Room Tip: we were in the Sultan room, second floor view fabulous, wifi connection bad, but very quiet. Shower...

Hi Thaddius,
Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear that you had a relaxing time at El Morocco Inn & Spa. We are working on the wi-fi issue and you’ll also be glad to know that we are in the process of replacing all the televisions with flat screens. We didn't want to do this all at once or it would have forced us to raise rates - which we did not want to do!!

Also, thank you for pointing out the lack of towel racks. The owner agrees with you and will be adding more racks as soon as possible.

Thanks again for your review and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Thought I'd already posted this review! We visited here for our 25th wedding anniversary (May 2011) and after the initial worry of driving through a residential street in the middle of the desert where we wanted to turn and run... But once inside you enter an oasis of calm. Rooms wonderful and well thought out. We smiled all the time we were there with all of the quirky, wonderful touches including Casablanca movie playing in the lounge (yes we did download a copy upon our return) and thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the lovely people during Happy Hour with our morocco tinis and then the tranquility of a late night dip in the spa and a nightcap round the fire pit! we didn't want to leave...
