Loved the atmosphere, the service was great, the waitress was one of the most genuine and personable I've ever met, and the food was great.

Stopped in for dinner with my wife rather than hitting rush hour traffic on 580. It was a good idea. We have eaten at Macaroni Grill several times and find it living up to our expectations. Lots of families there. Very child friendly place. I found sole with parmesan crust on the menu again and jumped on it. The side of orzo, sundried tomatoes and spinach was excellent. We have tried to reproduce it at home. Several attempts to cook sole with a parmesan crust have shown us that we need to learn more about this dish.

The food is very good as is the service, but the place has become rundown and needs renovation. We passed on two booths we were first taken to because the seats were torn. Floor needs attention too.

This was our first visit to the El Cerritto Macaroni Grill. We ordered the "Build Your Own Pasta" meal. It was okay. Not much flavor. We noticed the complimentary Rosemary bread they give you was not as good as it used to be. Our waiter came around and began to take our order when another waitress came and told him he was to go to another area. He seemed so dissapointed that we said we wanted him instead. The waitress said okay and walked away a bit ticked off. Russ was our waiter and he was terrific! He smiled and was very helpful. We sat in a booth with vinyl seats which were all cracked and lumpy. The springs were shot on them. We told someone and they said they were to be replaced very soon. The ladies room had no soap in the dispensers at all. I mentioned this to the main hostess before leaving. Listen, if you are going to open your doors each day, please think of the customers first! Make sure you have soap in the bathrooms. This Macaroni Grill was a huge disapointment. Very poorly run.
The Macaroni Grill which is now closed in Dublin, Ca was spectacular. It was a beautiful place. You felt you were in another country. Excellent service. But stay away from the El Cerrito, CA location and go somewhere else!

Our family's meal was poorly paced even before the server forgot one of our entrees. We have never gotten good service at this location, and we keep wondering to ourselves when we will decide that the negative service outweighs the positive food.
