“Convenient location and nice ammenities”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

I thought we might be disappointed that we weren't staying inside Yosemite National Park but Yosemite View Lodge was very convenient. The park was beautiful but felt very crowded in the valley so it was nice to get away from the crowds in the evening . We had assumed that we would have dinner in the park a few evenings but we ended up eating at the restaurant on the lodge property and were very satisfied. It was much more peaceful and the patio overlooking the stream just couln't have been prettier. It was also nice to have a washer and dryer at the lodge...much easier for packing. As others have mentioned, I would request a room overlooking the stream.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the stream.

I have always had really good luck booking through the National Park Service, but this hotel was extremely disappointing. We booked a family suite, but when we checked in there was no bedding for the fold out bed. It, as well as the other beds were extremely old. The room was dirty, had holes in the wall, furniture was stained. There was also no coffee and other items in the room, which wouldn't have been a huge deal except that every time we called down to the front desk they said it was already in the room (even though we were calling because it wasn't). Then we were told once that we would have to wait 2 hours for bedding, and another time that they were out. Service was very poor. The hot tub near our room did not heat up. The restaurant had good service and a really nice patio by the river, but they opened later than the posted times and two in our party got food poisoning (I assume from the salad bar). The arcade for the kids had mostly broken games and the lights kept going out. This was part of a 21-day road trip for us and was by far the worst accommodation on our trip. Very disappointing room, location and service. Way too expensive for the quality - both hotel and restaurant.

I must admit, after reading very mixed reviews, my partner and I were slightly concerned about staying at Yosemite View Lodge during our 3 week trip around the US... but, boy, were we surprised!

I don't know if we were perhaps in one of the newer accommodations, but our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. I've read several reviews saying how uncomfortable the beds were but we didn't find this to be a problem at all, in fact we slept very well!

We booked a river view room and I am so glad we paid a bit more for this - opening the door in the morning to hear the beautiful river rushing by was absolutely amazing and one of the highlights of our trip!

It was great to have kitchen facilities too, especially as it's not that easy to grab lunch in Yosemite so this meant we were able to make packed lunches each day and have our own breakfast before going out.

There is a pizza place on site, where you can eat in or takeaway. The pizzas were good and reasonably priced but we found the staff a little unfriendly here. Also, beware that they are very strict on not taking any orders after 9pm. This does seem a little early when people are often not getting back to their accommodation until around this time.

All in all, an excellent stay and fantastic location - give it a chance!!

Room Tip: Definitely pay the extra for a river view room, it is so worth it!!

We had a room that looked out at the river. This small river's water came from the waterfalls in the Yosemite National Park and flowed down hill all the way. We sat on our private patio and soaked up the peacefulness of the place. We even open our window and fell asleep to the soothing sounds of rushing water.
The room was a good size, the television worked, we had a fridge, a stove, a coffee maker.
Clean. But I did find some ants in the bathroom in the morning. Not a big deal.
I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Spent 3 nights here in early June - it's the perfect location if you can;t get something actually in the park - 2 miles from the gate ... it took us under 25 minutes to get to the valley floor visitor center every day - perfect.
Room was clean and balcony overlooking the stream was great - be sure to ask for room on the river if you book!
furniture a bit dated, and food options a bit limited, but still perfectly adequate.
Pool was great, but one of the 2 hot tubs had some apparent mold in it.

Room Tip: ask for room overlooking the river - it's beautiful

If you're considering staying at this way over-priced lodge, I highly recommend you do NOT. My family and I just returned home from a two-night stay here. I reserved three nights, but because of our unpleasant experience the first two days, we decided to check out early.

The room they gave my hubby, two teenagers, and me was old and grungy and was directly in front of the lodge dumpsters. The phone in our room didn't work at all, the TV didn't work properly, there were ants in the bathroom, a wasps nest on our tiny balcony, and to top it off, the customer service throughout our stay was very poor.

The absolute only bright spot about this lodge was that it's about 10 minutes away from the entrance to Yosemite -- convenient. However, even more convenient are the lodges within Yosemite Valley, which is where we're staying next time.

This was my second visit to this hotel and it was every bit as good as the first. The River View room was roomy and how can you complain about white water rivers running right below your balcony. The location is brilliant with the National Park entrance just minutes away. I especially enjoyed taking a long hot whirlpool bath before bed and then having an early morning swim in view of the granite splendour of Yosemite. The River restaurant is also very pleasant for both dinner and breakfast.

Room Tip: No other choice it has to be a River View room every time
