We just spent four nights here and loved it. We had a fantastic room at a fantastic price in the Redwood building. Having come from San Francisco and Monterey we were expecting another cramped room with two double beds and not much else for space for ourselves and our two daughters and we were so impressed with the roomy two bedroom with a living room suite that we received for about half the price of what we paid for an awful hotel room in San Francisco. We didn't eat at the restaurant but we did enjoy the pool many times during our stay. The staff at the lobby were helpful and the cleaning staff were thorough. I can't think of a bad thing to say anything bad about this property and I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the Redwood building. It doesn't back the river but the rooms are fabulous.

Spent 2 nights at this hotel in July. It's in a great location, but is run down and in need of better maintenance. Upon arrival we were greeted by unfriendly staff at the front desk. Poker faced and less than welcoming. We woke up both mornings to ants all over the kitchenette counter and noticed a note taped to the wall saying they have an ant problem and not to leave food out. We hadn't left ant food out. Even found ants on the bed.
The ice machine was located in the laundry room and the laundry room was absolutely filthy. It was very dirty and disgusting. The door was always open and I think done critters got into the garbage the first night we were there. The garbage was strewn all over the floor and that's where it stayed all day. Again, ants everywhere! I can't believe someone from housekeeping didn't awl by the laundry room the entire day and clean up the mess, but from the looks of the room I'm sure it never gets cleaned .
The bed was okay, and the double shower head tub was nice, even though it was all 70s vintage!
All in a big disappointment, especially at $250/night!

I wish I wasn’t writing this . . . but I am. We stayed at the Yosemite View Lodge for two nights in July.

Plus point: the closest hotel to the West Entrance of the National Park

Negative point: boy, do they milk it . . . . !

It’s just so disappointing to turn up at a hotel fearing that it’s going to be just a bit c**p because they have a captive audience, and then finding your fears to be upheld.

Firstly - the room. We stayed in Dogwood. Had a second floor room with a balcony looking out over the Merced River. The view was probably the one thing worth the rate.

The room was REALLY dated (think 1980’s swagged curtains, peach bathroom, mahogany furniture). I can live with that; we’ve stayed in much worse. It wasn’t sparklingly clean but it was OK. The air con took a hell of a long time to kick in and make any difference in room temp. We had no extra towels or linens for the third person (our daughter) who was included in the booking. They were delivered promptly but not with the toothy smile and the “You’re Welcome” that you expect from most North American hotel staff.

The staff at Check In seemed predominantly young and almost weary of dealing with residents. Check in was perfunctory and joyless. But what REALLY bugged me was the WiFi - 10 bucks for 24 hours (one device at a time). Come on guys, this is the USA in the 21st Century . . . .

Having read up, we came prepared with breakfasts etc and fed ourselves in the mornings. The room did contain a kitchenette stocked with a variety of odd bits of crockery (two of each for a room sleeping 4). As we arrived late the first evening, we ate at the on site pizza place. Again, to be fair, the pizzas were surprisingly well priced and tasty. But if you choose to eat in, your surroundings will make Pizza Hut look like Gordon Ramsay’s!

This is a big and busy hotel; it occupies a prime position very close to the park. It’s just such a shame that something that could be so good is so mediocre, because they just don’t need to try . . .

We got sucked into staying at Yosemite View Lodge during our trip to Yosemite. We were hiking half dome and wanted to be closest to the park. Having no luck getting into the Ahwahnee, we were led to believe this was an acceptable alternative. Don't fall for this. My som's room had dead bugs in the bathroom, bedroom, and one in the shower. Makes you wonder how often or thoroughly the rooms are cleaned. There is no room service, so if you come off the mountain exhausted after a long hike you will be fetching your own dinner at the only overpriced restaurant in reasonable distance.

As to what will greet you upon your arrival, don't expect much. The rooms are ugly and outdated. All I can say is that the beautiful hills and creek adjacent to this hotel are crying. We couldn't check out fast enough. It's really too bad that there are the functional equivalent of slum lords in this beautiful national landmark destination. I guess by sheer demand the owners have decided it is ok to pull their profits and do zero to make this a pleasant place to cap a day in Yosemite. Go elsewhere.

It's got a tired feel to it so do not expect luxury.
But, the location is fantastic, the setting next to the river is beautiful, the rooms are big and clean - so take it as it comes and enjoy.
Two on site restaurants - the pizzas were awful, literally the worst I have ever had. The main restaurant was ok but pricey for what it was.
Treat it like a camp site but with solid walls and roof and you will enjoy.

I want to start off by saying that I have never written a negative review, however I need to warn those that are considering Yosemite View Lodge that it has bed bugs!! We booked this hotel due to its excellent location to the Yosemite entrance, its beautiful landscape and positive reviews found on most websites. We knew that this hotel was older and in need of a renovation. On arrival, those working at the front desk were accommodating when we had to switch our original room due to the overwhelming smell of bacon. Once in our new room, the AC was broken but decided just to deal with it. When we pulled down the comforter, we noticed that the sheets were dirty and full of bloodstains! We then saw a bed bug run across the sheets! We pulled up the rest of the sheets and noticed the bed was covered in bed bugs!! We immediately packed up our belongings and headed to front desk and explained the situation. The first question the receptionist asked was, “Did you take a picture?” Are you kidding me!? He wasn’t apologetic and didn’t even seem surprised and more like this has happened on a regular basis. Of course I took pictures, which I showed him. He offered us another room, which we declined. We demanded a full refund, which he granted. Since all of the hotels are always booked surrounding the park, our only resort was to drive over 2 hours at 10:00 pm to the nearest city after driving over 4 hours to get to this hotel. Needless to say, I would NOT recommend this hotel!

So when you read the reviews of this place you really don't know what to expect.....we stayed on July 4th weekend so were happy to get a room somewhere close to the park, we came with fairly low expectations!

Truth is that is really isn't that bad. Travelers were my wife, 6 year old daughter and myself. We got a river view room. The view was amazing - you would not get tired of it. Room was dated but clean and everything worked. We had a little kitchen area and fridge which was good. There are a few outdoor pools and if you are feeling brave you can even go into the river. There is a good shop on site where you can get most groceries which was really handy.

Location is great - few miles to the park so can't complain about that. Reality was that the place was packed whilst we were there. We did not have any issues with the staff like some other reviewers but we did not have any problems.

In summary, set your expectations low and then you will be pleasantly surprised when you get there. Also just pretend you have gone back 30-40 years in time and you will probably like the decour as well!
