Unfortunately we had to stay here one night because all other hotels in the area were booked. The first room they gave us seemed as though no one had been in it for awhile. The room had numerous insects in it. We complained and got another room for the night. However, the second room was just as uncomfortable. Make reservations in advance so you are not forced to spend a night here.

Our travel agent booked this hotel for us as part of a road trip we were doing. After reading the reviews my wife was terrified about staying here! However when we arrived had none of the problems others are reporting about the check-in, the girl was very friendly and helpful. The car parking was right outside the room door so didn't have to carry bags too far. The room itself was huge and clean with air-con and coffee facilities. The breakfast was basic but edible and set us up for the day. The best thing of all was 20 minutes drive and we were in Yosemite.
I loved this place, loved that there was no mobile phone signal, loved that there was no wifi, I didn't want to go to Yosemite for these things that you get everywhere else, I went to Yosemite for the park itself and I wasn't disappointed.
Would definitely stay in this hotel again:)

Check in disinterested. Motel type room with door straight off parking area. Decent size but as noted by others well used and gloomy decor. Made the mistake of eating at hotel restaurant on site the first night we were here instead driving out. Slow service, table not clean and sent back some crockery. Food when it did arrive was indifferent and disappointing.

Stayed for two nights as part of a tour. Rooms are in blocks spread out with parking directly outside the room. We were towards the edge of the site so it was a few minutes walk to the bar, pools or reception. There is a small shop in the main building which should cover your basic needs.Room was big and just a little dated. A few of the appliances had seen better days and the overall decor was a bit gloomy but there was A/C. No WiFi unless you pay for it and then only in the reception. Due to the location the restaurant is about your only dining option and to be honest both meals were quite good and the servers very pleasant. Perhaps if you treat people right you get the best from them. Some people should try it. The bar has a diner section and that was quite busy with locals. The barman is great fun and knows how to keep his customers happy. Unless he's giving out free drinks to the locals ask yourself why they drive here instead of the other hotel. Breakfast was included in our stay and again was fine. Hot and cold buffet with plenty of choice. Nothing wrong with it at all.
To sum up then. A little dated but with two pools, a bar, restaurant and great location it isn't a bad place to spend a night or two.

The best thing about this place is where it is. It's one of only two hotels near to arch rock entrance at Yosemite. The rooms were large and clean but the decor is old. The staff were ok they did their jobs but no more. The only place to eat is in the hotel, the restaurant was busy when we were there, it was Saturday, but the service was very slow and the food ordinary. The 2nd night we tried the bar grill which was quicker but the food came from the same kitchen, we couldn't face either of those again so on our last night we got a takeaway pizza from the best western up the road. There is a good little shop near to the park entrance called el portal market where we got sandwiches etc to take into the park for lunches. The wifi is terrible $9 for 24 hours in the lobby only. There are people sat around pulling their hair out because the connection is so bad, it's up down up down all the time. I was charged twice and although I sent an email to complain they have ignored me and I've given up on getting a refund. There is nothing to do in the evening.

It is ab 20 minutest driving away from the Yosemite park entrance. Room is clean, bathroom is small however efficient. A lot if parking spaces, very quiet at night. The shuttle stop should be in front of the lobby but I never ride with the shuttle. Over all I would give it 3.5 stars, 4 star for location, convenience, and quietness, 3 star for room condition per my standards of hotels. But hey this is a lodge in a remote area so don't expect a 5 star hotel room and service in metropolitan cities.

Where to start... the rude unfriendly staff in both the restaurant and reception (which seemed to have been staffed by children!), the uncleanliness of the room and facilities all of which need updated or the fact there are no laundry facilities on site, the closest being the next hotel which is 17 miles away. I think the highlight of our stay was when we told the waitress our breakfast was cold so she took it away and microwaved it with the fruit still on the plate! It was totally inedible so we said we weren't paying for it to which the waitress replied 'whatever' and never apologised once. There are some really nice hotels in Yosemite but this is not one of them - avoid.
