Absolutely stay in Yosemite park if you can. We stayed here 3 nights because I couldn't get reservations in the park and this location is central and close to the entrance. Its an ok alternate and you're close enough to drive in to the park every day and they serve breakfast. As the others stated, it is outdated and the rooms are dark and beds not too comfortable. The restaurant for supper is just awful, so bad that we only ate there once. Buffet breakfast was good, but is exactly the same every morning. The pool was good. My kids wanted to play ping pong, but it was $20!!! to hit a ball around so we didn't. Internet was an extra $10 per day. We visited in May during the peak of the waterfall season. It was quiet and ok.

During our visit to Yosemite we stayed at Cedar Lodge for two nights. Location-wise it's great, because the motel is only 15 minutes located from Yosemite's entrance. However, the complex and rooms are outdated and could really benefit from some updating and repairments. The rooms were big enough, but dark and not very clean (sticky remote control and bed spread).
The breakfast was excluded, but we did choose to have breakfast. It's a buffet with quite some choices. We had dinner here as well: good food, nothing to fault. The cheesecake in particular was nice. The breakfast and dinner staff were very friendly, cheery, and attentive!
In all, we liked our stay, but we found the rooms to be a let down and the stay too expensive for what was offered. We will probably stay inside the park for our next stay instead.

Great location, room at front had wonderful views. Convenient for the park and various routes. It was clean on arrival, but not much other than making beds happens thereafter. The rooms are dark with a bit of magnolia would make a significant difference, you need your lights on at all times
Coffee machine good idea and appreciated, just not sure how much cleaned in between guests. Bathroom clean and tidy, and shampoos etc supplied. Pool is nice and clean but does need new chairs etc and is welcome at the end of a day in the park. We used the resturant and the steak was really nice, burger fine and pork chop good. Breakfast is sound too, the el portal market up the road has good selection of sandwiches and snacks for the day and top coffee too!

The rooms are dated. The only cleaning done on multiple day stays is the replace towels and make beds. Dirty coffee cups remain and the machine is not cleaned. No new sheets. Icky bedspread - probably full of germs. The rooms smelled musty. The water in the outdoor pool was clean but the only seating was on old poly picnic tables, old plastic chairs, and a few loungers. It is surrounded by walls and is ugly and breeze less. Help at the desk was unenthusiastic.

Dated room, couldn't have AC on as sounded like a plane taking off in the bedroom!
On the plus side beds quite comfy and modern tv, parking good also!
Good location for the parks although we wished we had stayed inside yosemite, there are some lovely places to stay there!

The hotel is a good location with easy access to the park with or without personal transportation. The YARTS bus picks up passengers directly from the hotel. The accommodations were very acceptable and the onsite mini-grocery adds an extra convenience. The staff was friendly and very helpful in booking my return trip via Amtrak.

Be aware, that there is no wireless internet access in this area. Since Yosemite is the main attraction, then if you can wait to access internet (via phone, etc) until your arrive at the park then this may just be a minor inconvenience.

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay there. I would recommend this hotel to any "Eco-traveler" who wishes to take advantage of public transportation as well as those not staying directly within the park.

Good location for Yosemite National Park - about 20mins drive. Outdoor and indoor pool facilities were good. Great area for BBQing near rooms. Beds were really uncomfortable and the loud AC kept me up most of the night. Electric hobs were barely functioning so recommend a BBQ.
