“Disappointing Experience”

We stayed at the Embassy Suites, LAX South, when we had a flight layover at LAX. The whole experience was pretty much one disappointment after another. Starting with the shuttle driver that took almost 90 minutes to pick us up at the Airport. The room smelled damp and moldy, and the fixtures, walls, doors, were all in desperate need of updating. Having stayed at at least 20 other Embassy Suites Hotels, this was in the worst condition. The room was noisy, with single pane glass, the highway and airport noise was loud. The front desk employees, and the Breakfast staff were kind and professional, the breakfast was good in the morning. This Hotel is very close to LAX, in my humble opinion, it just needs some TLC, and it could meet the Embassy/Hilton Standard.

Room Tip: Get a room that faces the south.

We are always trying to provide our guests with the best possible experience and that includes upgrading the hotel when we can. The suites were renovated early last year and we just finished an upgrade to our lobby and breakfast areas. Next on our list will be the windows and doors throughout the hotel which as you mentioned, is overdue with our proximity to the airport. Hopefully the new doors and windows will help with the overall look of the hotel and bring our building up to the standards you’ve come to love of the Embassy brand.

Visited the Embassy Suites South for a second time. Since we visited two years ago, they had renovated...it was not drastic but appreciated. We have stayed in newer fancier hotels but we returned here because I liked the service! Free shuttle from airport and to the sister Embassy North (and access to the ocean express trolley) but drivers are very friendly and will drop you off in the vicinity if it's reasonably on their routes. Once their free shuttle was tardy so they paid for a cab for us. I thought this was excellent example of their superior service. The location is very close to manhattan beach and through their sister hotel, there is access to the ocean express trolley that will take you to the beach or shopping for a couple bucks ( this time we had some issues with that trolley coming home. See my review about that) Staying at a hotel on the trolley route or closer to manhattan beach would still be more convenient if that is the main purpose of your stay. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast buffet which saves time and money. It was not quite as good as last time we decided but still good. We highly recommend the omelet bar. Weekends the buffet is a lesser quality than weekdays which was disappointing as some of our favourite staples disappeared. This hotel also offers a managers reception where there are free drinks and nachos. Not too many places offer this so definitely a perk even though we only made it back to the hotel one evening for that. We ate at the bistro restaurant once. The quality was okay, prices were high for what you got but again the service is exceptional and we travel a lot to 3-5 star hotels. Hot tub broke down for a day during our stay.. Wasn't a deal breaker as the kids preferred the pool. Great ambiance in pool and lobby( better than the north embassy we felt) The work out room is very basic. If you like free weights, there are some but it is limited. The biggest minus for such an exceptional hotel for my family was the lack of free wifi. We had to bother the front desk which doubles as the concierge for information when we could have used our own devices to get the information. The front desk staff were always helpful and knowledgable but I am sure guests waiting in line to check in or out might not have appreciated it. There is a business centre but it is often very busy. Overall, I would stay again. We usually chat with their staff and tip for the extra services .. Fyi

Thank you for taking the time to share your review of our hotel. I am happy that you returned and noticed the changes that we have made. The rooms went through a complete renovation in 2013 and the lobby and breakfast areas were completed this past May. We have one more upgrade coming at the end of the year with new windows and doors throughout the hotel which will help with the airport noise. Hopefully you will come back soon to see the changes.

First hotel we stayed in on a long road trip around western USA. Very welcoming with secure parking. Well equipped and modern looking suites with comfortable couch and beds. Receptionist (Jennifer, I think) slightly unhelpful when we had difficulties making an international call from the room but other staff members keen to help and found a package we had waiting for us - despite Jennifer telling us there was nothing there. Good hotel to stay at when arriving in LA!

Was told Wifi was free in the rooms. Mattress were beyond horrible as was the sofa sleeper. My kids slept on the floor, and My back still hurts days after leaving. Was told a 12 passenger van would fit in garage and did not. No help to a single female traveling with children. Was put by elevator that was noisy all night long.

This hotel , located on the Imperial Highway in El Segundo, turned out to be a perfect spot for our 3 day weekend trip to LA.; It is close to our family, so we could park our car near them and walk to their house and back to the hotel whenever we pleased.

The hotel offers a very nice "to order" breakfast and self serve options with everything included in the buffet.

The hotel is very attractive with a garden like atmosphere and fish swimming in ponds.

The pool, hot tub, and fitness areas are very nice.

WiFi is free in public areas, but there is a $10 charge for room WiFi.

The suites are set up for 3 guests with a King bed in one room, a bath in the middle and a living area with sofa bed out front. TVs and sinks are in each room.

We liked the hotel and will probably stay here on future LA trips.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an accessible balcony as some do not have windows that can be opened.

Please know that our wireless internet is the same charge of $9.95 throughout the hotel and not complimentary in the lobby. For our Diamond and Gold Hhonors members the fee is waived but generally the price is the same. However we do have a business center for all guests with free access to computers, internet and printing.

Stayed here for a last minute long weekend road trip to SoCal. Chose it at the last minute and for being dog friendly as well as being so close to everything. Which it really is. HOWEVER, you have to keep in mind SoCal traffic. A 10 minute drive can turn in to 45 mins quickly. Being dog friendly was a big plus for us since we brought our Frenchie. Everybody there loved him! They accommodate pets very well at this place and keep the charges down to a daily minimum compared to others. Big plus for pet owners. Also, being so close to the airport you can hardly tell you are that close at all considering you are pretty much across the highway. However, I don't think I heard one plane at all while inside. Only outside do you realize how close you are. Only complaint from me would be that the rooms are a little outdated and the bathrooms are pretty tiny. Hard to turn around if trying to open or close the door inside the bathrooms. Bu other than that, the place is great. They have an EXCELLENT breakfast set up in the am and their Happy Hour is just as nice during the pm. I will definitely be back for my next road trip to SoCal. Thanks Embassy Suites!

Thank you for thinking about us for your weekend trip. Between the breakfast, Evening Reception and being pet friendly it is hard to beat. Please know that while we are pet friendly hotel we understand that many guests have pet allergies. The nightly pet fee is used to deep clean the carpets and furniture upon check out. This way everyone is comfortable during their stay with us.

Had a nice stay at Embassy Suites (LAX) El Segundo. Hotel has neat So Cal theme with tropical plants, trees, and ponds in there. Rooms are kind of out-dated, bathroom was slightly small but you just sleep in there while in L.A anyways. What offsets the hotel is the complimentary breakfast and happy hour they make up for it. Loved how it's pet friendly, as we had our lil Frenchie with us. Service was great. Charging $26/day for parking is kind of pricey. Can't even hear the airplanes for being across the airport.

Room Tip: Lower level rooms are close to the kitchen, garage elevator and restaurants.

We are pet friendly for a small additional nightly fee which is used to deep clean the room once you have checked out.
