My husband and I stayed at the Kate Stanton Inn for the last 4 nights. I have stayed in numerous Bed and Breakfast's and I can tell you that this really is the BEST. Liz and Carol have put a personal touch on everything. We stayed in the Nantucket room, which could be compared to a five star suite at a luxury hotel. Forget the nearby Four Seasons book here! Liz and Carol care so much and do not overlook the tiny details that really matter. The scented powder on the bedside table for your sheets if you desire, a tiny flame-less candle and the fireplace lit at turn-down service, chilled water at your bedside and a peppermint patty on your pillow. toiletries if you need. Are you getting the pattern here? Liz can customize your menu choices if you have any food limitations or allergies. But what ever you do, don't miss out on the Bran Muffin -- it is the best at the BEST! Thank you Liz and Carol for being such gracious hostesses during our stay. We will look no further then the Kate Stanton Inn on our next visit to Northern San Diego County.

Room Tip: The Nantucket is so great.

If you are reading this, you are thinking of staying with Liz and Carol at the Kate Stanton Inn. Trust us...book now. We flew in for a cross country getaway. We were greeted with the warmth and hospitality you will find nowhere else. Liz and Carol are amazing at what they do. They open their doors and shower you with a level of friendliness and quality that is tough to find these days. Liz prepares AMAZING meals, Carol tends to your every chamber need, and Kai (the pup pup) will cure even the craziest cases of cross country bronchitis. Even though our skies were cloudy (if you can believe that!), and our bodies were beat, the ladies of the Kate Stanton provided the most memorable of experiences. When we left, as sad as it was, we realized we gained friendships that will last our lifetime. We cannot wait to go back, relax in the city we love, and stay and visit with our new friends.

Room Tip: Nantucket Room!

Kate & Carol are fabulous & this is by far the best B & B we have ever enjoyed. Immaculate, wonderful breakfast, a companionable visit and delightful sip of evening wine. Kate even sent an e-mail in advance advising of loud road repairs & offered to allow us to cancel. Thank goodness we didn't. Can't imagine anyone else doing this. I have already told an old friend he must stay on his next visit to the SAN area. We encourage anyone heading to the SAN area to stay, particularly in "our" Nantucket Room. What a delightful time we had.

We travel regularly to the Encinitas area. We booked this place because we tired of chain hotels. We were motivated largely from other reviews. It seemed almost too good to be true but in fact this little inn was excellent in every respect. Innkeepers Liz and Carol keep an impeccable place. No detail is too small to overlook. We're talking towels, nightlight, turn-down, refreshments. I can't think of a single detail that was amiss. And the breakfasts were knockout with ample portions, plenty of choice, and highest quality. (Don't miss the homemade lemon curd. Put it on everything!) I am not known for such over-the-top reviews, but this beat all expectations.

Room Tip: Only one room had provide bath facilities.

My wife and I had a great stay at the Kate Stanton Inn. Liz and Carol are great hosts and very thoughtful. They literally have opened up their home to guests and make you feel right at home. Each evening we came home to a pitcher of water and a glass by each side of the bed and a Peppermint Patty on our pillows. The house is nice and quiet and there are views of the ocean and a lagoon from the living room. It is close to the San Diego Botanical Gardens, the beach and plenty of other attractions.

Be aware there are pets in the house. We shared a bathroom with their roommate however he was not there that weekend. The mid-priced room and other room have private bathrooms and a private patio or a deck. The deck has ocean views. Over all a great experience.

Room Tip: The rooms are bigger than they look in the pics.

My husband and I have stayed at many B&Bs all over the world and we think the Kate Stanton Inn is by far the best. The B&B is very clean, charming, and wonderfully located for beaches and tourist attractions in San Diego. Moreover, the innkeepers, Liz and Carol, truly and genuinely care for their guests. It is shown through their personal touches (chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine’s Day), enlightening conversations, gourmet breakfasts (they accommodated our special diets) and thoughtful hospitality (we love peppermint patties and were give two big ones on our pillows at night). We stayed at Kate Stanton Inn for four nights and we felt like we were part of an extended family, along with the other two guests. It takes special people to leave that impression on others during a short period of time. It was hard to leave, but we will be back!

Immaculate and charming. The proprietors posess a genuine gift for hospitality.

Located on a hill with ocean and bay views, this gem is conveniently located, and a good value. All the rooms are understated, and tastefully decorated. We stayed in the Martha's Vinyard Room, which was the smallest room and shares a bathroom. I'm not normally a willing bathroom sharer, but was really a non issue since the other suites have bathrooms. For a treat, next time we will book the Nantucket, which has a fireplace and delightful bathroom.

Breakfast is plentiful and delicious, and both nights we were treated to wine/cheese and lively conversation in the main area. Since we were checking out the area for possible relocation, we were especially appreciative of all the insights and knowledge generously provided by our hostesses.

We look forward to staying there again.
