I've always been a fan of Blue Ribbon's pizzas, but a recent experience will prevent me from ever coming back. Their weekend manager, Kim, refused to honor their published happy hour prices due to a miscommunication about whether those prices were available for take out orders. That's not such a big deal in the grand scheme of things (though not the best customer service practice). What really amazed me was her flip attitude and rude treatment of my friend and me, and refusal to accept responsibility for the hostess' mistake. Furthermore, she simply cancelled our order rather than try to accommodate our order, and then lied about whether an owner or higher up was available to discuss what happened. In all my years of living in San Diego, this is the worst customer service I've ever been on the receiving end of, and I'll never go back to that restaurant as a result.

Excellent artisan pizza with fresh organic ingredients. Nice selection of craft beers. A must visit.

Wasn't sure what to expect from this small "Artesan" pizza place in downtown Encinitas. What you get are specialty pizzas not the usual heavy red sauce chain pizzas. If you're looking for something different but still in the Pizza family, this is the place. Very well made wood fired pizza crust with specialty toppings of your choice. Only draw back is that it is small and very noisy inside. Choose an outside table if you can. No reservations so be prepared to wait. You won't be disappointed if you do.

The spicy meat pizza was very good- easily shared with another person. The burrata appetizer also was standout. Good selection of local beers. Inside is on the small side, but they also have a nice outdoor terrace with seating.

Blue Ribbon Pizza, innocuously tucked into a corner location at Encinitas' Lumberyard Plaza, is a hands-down go to spot for pizza.

A few tables located on the outside patio make for al fresco dining, with heat lamps for those chilly nights. Inside, its cozy, but a bit noisy, seating holds another 30 or so patrons. When you step inside you're welcomed into a cozy but loud din, with an attractive bar where you can also dine, and a row of small tables. The ambience was pure reggae tunes crossed with a cozy bar atmosphere, bustling waitresses, and the owner at the back making pizzas in the wood-fired oven.

The pies here are some of the tastiest around, with a wonderful thin crust that holds it crispiness. To start, we had a unique twist on your common Caprese salad, with the mozzarella slightly breaded and fried, layered between fresh, thick slices of tasty yellow tomato, some basil oil, and a potent tomato coulis to dress the plate.

With kids in tow, they wanted what's known. So we had the Americana, with Gaeta Olives and pepperoni. The olives were a nice touch and paired wonderfully with the large rounds of pepperoni. On the Classico, fennel italian sausage was paired with Cremini mushrooms. The house made sausage was an absolute hit, tasting fresh and delicious, and made the addition of the mushrooms makes this pizza truly sparkle.

Service was prompt but not pushy; we did not feel rushed to move on despite that Blue Ribbon does not take reservations, so you have to show up, and most likely wait.

I highly recommend it for an excellent pizza, large salads, and a good, if a little noisy, atmosphere.
