The manager of the Bay View Motel was exceptional in assisting with accommodations for our large group. The rooms were clean, the location was excellent and the price for lodging was just right for our touring event.

This was our third time to the area, but first time staying at the Bayview Inn. What a pleasant surprise. Sitting high on a bluff above Hwy 101, all the rooms have a commanding view of the bay, with patios or decks facing west to catch the evening sunsets. The generous-sized rooms are quiet, clean and tastefully appointed. There is the sound of bustling traffic from below during the day, but feels off in the distance and minor in comparison to the views and the light, which you would never get further downtown. The rates are highly competitive. A real value for all that you get. What a gem.

Stopped here for one night, en route to the Redwoods from SF. Arrived late, so called to let them know -- very much a mom & pop operation, as we discovered when we found the front desk to be in their living room! The rooms are very clean, recently updated and in great shape. "Mom" left a few notes around the room with tips on the details that made for a nice touch. Easy wifi instructions, nice fridge, nice suite layout, didn't really care about the view, per other comments -- but enjoyed having a balcony for fresh air at night.

Excellent bed and pillows! My first good night's sleep on this trip! Also the first functioning clock radio, so got to wake up to Jefferson

The bathroom was exceptionally nice and clean, with a terrific walk-in shower! The only missing piece for us was a microwave -- odd to have a fridge without a micro (unless we were missing something!) A minor oddity is that all of the lighting is recessed -- very modern, but if you're used to table lamps, this motel doesn't have any. A minor nit is that the lack of table lamps also meant a lack of plugs for electronic devices in the standard lamp/plug format that you typically find in hotels.

The staff was VERY friendly, and it definitely felt like a mom & pop operation in that way, but with the quality/consistency of a hotel chain. A great combination!

Room Tip: No elevator to the second floor room, so keep that in mind if you're like us, and DON'T pack...

I was here for two nights with a friend. It was a very last minute decision to drive to Eureka, so I wasn't wanting to spend a fortune on accomodations. I wouldn't call it a vacation.
We were in Eureka to surprise my sister on her birthday because she was undergoing chemo treatments at the local hospital.
I didn't request a ground floor room but I'm glad we were placed there because I'm having knee problems, and stairs are hard for me to get up and down.

I would stay here again.

The staff was pleasant, the beds comfy, the fridge came in handy, and the motel was quiet.
A nice feature were the patio chairs out the back door where you could sit and get some fresh air and sunshine.
Neither of us found anything glaringly wrong with the Bayview Motel.

Yes, the Bayview does in fact have a view of Humboldt Bay. Unfortunately, it also has a view of a large warehouse and a parking lot full of shipping containers on the edge of the bay, and of some kind of smokestack across the bay. Not that any of that is the motel's fault, of course, but is wasn't quite the beautiful view we had expected. Although the motel is right off 101, it was pretty quiet at night.
That aside, my wife and I were quite pleased with our stay. The room was comfortable and very clean, and nicely laid out so there was a door on the east side of the building opening to the parking lot, and a door on the west side of the building opening to a nice grassy area, which was very convenient since we were travelling with dogs. The owners were very friendly and provided a lot of information about local hiking in the Redwoods, and even had a pamphlet and map from the park service showing where we could bring our dogs. The drive into old town Eureka on 101 can be slow, but one of the other streets through town, A or E I think, also runs into downtown. Probably not any faster but a lot pleasanter.
I noticed that there were some dreadful reviews about this place a number of years ago. Based on our experience with the very pleasant owners, I've got to suspect that it is under new ownership since those reviews were written.

Really clean, well kept suite with excellent amenities. A courteous, friendly staff that were welcoming and helpful. Good parking spaces. The hotel is lacated near a busy highway, so light sleepers may be affected, especially during the early morning rush hour. Nonetheless the Bayview Motel is my choice for future stay in Hombolt county.

Room Tip: The suite down stairs is quieter than the upstairs suite.
