Town House Motel - Historic Old Town
Ranked #8 of 21 Hotels in Eureka
Reviewed 20 April 2014

Had to go to Eureka on business. This is the perfect motel for a solo person on a business trip, or a couple. Old artdeco place fresh paint, covered parking, cameras all over, you do not have to worry about your car. Met the owner, very nice and accommodating, and fun to talk to. Cleanest room I have every stayed in. Huge shower-head, very nice showers.

I've stayed here a few times now.,If you are traveling on a budget, this place is perfect. The owner is very kind and honestly cares if you are pleased with your stay. He know the area well and is happy to share what he knows with you. Rooms are simple and clean. The architecture is rather interesting too. My only very minor complaint is the TV in one room makes a loud buzzing noise when turned on.
This part of Eureka is a little on the rough side, but the owner keeps a watchful eye on things and doesn't tolerate troublemakers. I've walked back and fourth to Lost Coast Brewery many times and never had any trouble whatsoever. It's kind of ironic, the one time I stayed in Arcata which is supposed to be a little more upscale, I and another dozen cars had our tires slashed.

Big thumbs up for Town House Motel.

Thank you Elsterowl for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed our clean rooms, location and reasonable prices. We assure you that if you had contacted us about the minor issue with your television by dialing 0 or 120, we would have corrected the problem immediately. Many people commonly associate "old" with "rough" or less appealing, however I like to rebut this with the metaphor that just because your grandmother has aged, doesn't mean she has become of any less interest to her family and friends . Our area may not be shiny Las Vegas, but we are literally in the best location for tourists to enjoy Historic Old Town, and have never had any issues with customers safety. We look forward to hosting you again soon!

An older motel with comfortable beds, clean rooms and bargain prices. It's located right across the street from the Humboldt County prison, so there are a lot of cops around. On first glance, it might seem a sketchy neighborhood, but we felt perfectly safe walking down to dinner and breakfast. The desk clerk was listening to cello music when we arrived in the evening, and was very charming and helpful in recommending places to eat.

It may look a bit odd and worn from the outside, but the rooms are spacious, the furniture is good, the beds are great and the shower is the best we experienced on this trip so far. The manager(?) really made a difference: he turned Eureka from a highway town into a town full of hidden gems. We followed his advice and went to the fern canyon up north, to the old coffeehouse and to the brewery. All three were great places. Rooms at the roadside may be a bit noisy, but living in the city we're used to that. We had a great stay and would recommend everyone to go here.

I stayed at the Town House Motel for two night. It is an older motel but very well maintained and the staff really wants you to be comfortable and they really care about their customers. The room was clean, the shower was very good and the bed was absolutely the more comfortable I've ever tried during my one month journey in the U.S. They do not have breakfast but do have coffee makers in the room. I enjoyed my stay here.

I agree it is cheap, it is not the newest (but not run down). The surrounding area is not promising - hey but it is safe, maybe the safest location in town (to front the prison). But this hotel have all i need:
- very clean room
- a bed
- good working WLAN (not like other big chains) and you can use it with several devices

and the best (beside the price) - The AA-Steakhouse right next door. Better steak for this price you will not find.

Thanks Peter N for your truthful review. We appreciate you rating us for the price you paid. It is unfair to compare our budget friendly facility to the 5 star hotels that are obviously able to offer many more amenities than THM. However, for customers like yourself who require a comfortable bed, strong WI-FI, and a VERY clean room, we are definitely the best choice in town. We are continuing to make improvements and welcome any suggestions you may have for your future stay. We look forward to hosting you again soon.

We stay at the Town House Motel a couple nights ago. While it is an older motel it is quite well maintained and the staff was very accommodating. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower was very good. The room was not exceptionally large but was well heated. If you are looking for fancy this is not the place; they do not have breakfast but do have coffee makers in the room and are generous with extra coffee packets. They are close to the Lost Coast Brewery (which is a great local place) and for the $60+ fee you can't beat it for a one night stay on your way through Eureka.
