This was our first visit to Eureka and stay in this bed and breakfast. Our room was located across the street on the bottom floor. The bedroom was beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. We attended the wine reception and had their cookies and tea in the evening. Both were lovely. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Breakfast the next morning was delicious! We did walk into town during the day and again for dinner. We saw many homeless people but no one bothered us. We felt very safe! The only negative was that we never saw anyone in the building we stayed in. Later in the evening we heard voices and footsteps but never saw anyone. Part of the charm of a B&B is meeting people and fortunately we had that opportunity during the wine and tea outings. I did feel a bit uncomfortable not being able to lock our bedroom door but there was a lock on the door at the top of the stairs leading to our room. I would definitely stay there again, perhaps where the other people are in the main building. It is a great place!

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your review and its great to know that you had such a pleasant experience at our Inn and that you enjoyed staying at the Carter House. There is so much space in the Carter House that guests really tend to spread out. The best place to meet people is at wine hour or happy hour at the bar at the Hotel Carter. We want you to come back soon, and know that you will meet many guests.
Best wishes,
Mark Carter

My husband and I recently stayed at the Carter House Inn. We stayed in Rm. 210 and it was very clean and bright. There were also more than enough towels in the bathroom. The breakfast was amazing with hot and cold items to choose from. The staff was excellent. I highly recommend this B&B and we look forward to our next visit.

My girlfriend and I booked a room over the weekend of the 4th and really enjoyed all aspects of the hotel. The service at the front desk was very professional and we felt welcome immediately. We were escorted to our room in the adjoining building by two employees who explained all of the amenities and services in a quick but thorough way. We had drinks in the bar that evening which was very pleasant. We were fortunate enough to meet the owner and his wife who had stopped in to chat with patrons and ask about the time we were having. They were fun people who genuinely wanted to make sure we were enjoying our stay. The hotel is close enough to the downtown area that we could walk to restaurants and the harbor. Breakfast was great each morning. High quality meal with great service yet again. We had a wonderful time and I am definitely going to return in the future.

Yes, this an older building. That is part of the charm. Yes, this town is a bit run down, but it was the perfect middle point between the south and the north Redwoods. Yes, the old town has many homeless persons, but we found a few very nice shops. Breakfast was great. The evening cheese was good but not much for many people. The staff were very helpful.

Booked a night in their suite with a couples package that included in room massage and dinner. The dinner and massage were fantastic, but the hotel and hotel hotel staff were disappointing. The room was old, not what I'd consider luxury. The staff were inexperienced and even a little hostile. Id skip the hotel and just have dinner next time.

from the moment i first contacted them, Jessie took excellent care to help me meet my special room needs. because of his care and concern for my room needs, i was able to make this important trip. very warm feeling to this place...room has excellent energy. really, the whole place does. it is amazing that management has been able gather such a fine group of hospititality employees in eureka. i have never seen such a sincere warm and competent team. food at 301 was very good, and the wine list blew my mind. i read alot of reviews before choosing this hotel, and while some warn of exterior 'noise', it is simply the condition of eureka these days, and you will no\t do better than this.the street is very well lit, and everything was fine. no need for concern. thanks so much!

So, my wife and I headed to Eureka to see the jazz festival, and made a reservation at the Carter House Hotel. Our room was weird (it had a spa in the middle of it) and zero view, not worth the price.
The furnishings are quite old and uncomfortable but appeared to be clean. The staff for this hotel and the accompanying restaurant was quite large and quite inexperienced. We were told we could have dinner in a room by the bar, but they completely forgot both us and our dinner. The facility is beautiful to look at but kind of hollow inside. I think most of the staff needs to either go back to or finish high school.
