“It's fine for a night”
Reviewed 27 July 2013

Perfectly fine if all you need is a clean, comfortable place to stop for the night. The hotel is located on 4th Street, which is actually Highway 101, so traffic is fairly constant, though not as heavy at night.

Our room was a bit dark but quite spacious, the bed and bedding were comfortable, the fridge was a little bigger than some chains offer, and we had a good wifi connection. We passed on the included breakfast, which was basically cold cereal, bread and pastry, as we had stocked up at the very good North West Co-op further south on 4th Street. I think it was at the intersection with C Street (Rodeway is at the intersection with V Street), but if you look out for the Travelodge on the left (big sign visible as you drive), the co-op is opposite. It has good hot and cold take-out food, fresh produce, etc.

Eureka’s historic downtown area is there too – worthwhile taking a walk around to admire the old buildings and attractive shops. The much-photographed Carson Mansion is nearby. It’s a private club today, so unless you know a member, you won’t be able to go inside. But bookstores in the historic section of town carry illustrated books about the mansion – lots of photos of Victorian excess.

We pulled into town about 830pm which was our first mistake. Because almost all the restaurants were closed . The room was nice enough and they had a hair dryer and ironing board but the bathrooms were dirty and had mold in them

We stayed one night in July 2013 while passing through Eureka, we had reserved the suite that had a separate bedroom along with two more queens. The window of the bedroom faced the highway so lots of noise in the evening and morning. The room was decent with some ageing carpet and a number of the electrical outlets need replacement. The Owners were very friendly during check in and recommended a few places to eat supper and also gave us a 10% off coupon to a local seafood restaurant that we used. The breakfast was simple but decent with not a lot of seating room but the six of us managed to squeeze in. Te motel was full the night we stayed so it must be a popular place to stay in Eureka.

This is a great place to stop over if you're travelling through Eureka. It's right off the 101 and the owners are SO friendly and helpful. The room was huge and clean, if not a little quirky (the bathroom light switch was broken and needing some TLC to turn off once on, for example). Overall, an excellent bargain - safe, clean and friendly.

The wife is great. We came in very weary and had a bad experience down the street at the Econo Lodge. She took us in and made us feel like we mattered, we weren't just $89 bucks. This room cost us $24 more than the econo but is so CLEAN! I am a bit if a germaphobe when it comes to hotels and I can actually use their sheets not the ones I brought! Sheets and pillows, bed is so soft and after getting 23 hours of sleep the past 96 hours i am excited about resting here!

I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights and by the last night I couldn't take it anymore so left early. This is a noisy hotel where you can here every single car on the road and in the parking lot. To make matters worse the staff yell and shout at each other across the parking lot and in the laundry room. Definitely not the place to stay if you want to get some rest

The room was very old and basic- old furniture and old smell

I missed breakfast by 5 minutes one morning and all I wanted was a coffee. They had already removed it and refused to give me a cup of coffee

Not friendly; noisy--don't stay!

Room Tip: across the street is a better option for you

Rooms are nice but if you have work to do on wifi - the signal is terrible. Do not understand why they cannot get their wifi to work at full speed. There is a lot of traffic as it is on busy 101 going through Eureka but if you have your a/c on, you do not hear it much.
